The Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Grove Continues New Musical Salons In Nashville With New Musical Theater Nashville

The Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF) is continuing to work with New Musical Theater Nashville (NMTN) running monthly gatherings for songwriters and playwrights in Nashville writing new musicals. Based on the successful JMF Writers Grove at Goodspeed Musicals, the evening salons are a peer to peer program. JMF's and NMTN's goal is to help establish and grow the musical theater writing community in the Nashville area.

The ENO's Acclaimed Production of CARMEN Returns to the London Coliseum Next Month

The English National Opera's (ENO) spring season opens this February with the return of Calixto Bieito's fiery Carmen to the London Coliseum. Its third revival since it was first staged in 2012, this is one of the most popular operas ever written, featuring Bizet's instantly recognisable searing score. 

STRANGER SINGS! Extends At Playhouse 46 At St. Lukes

​​​​​​​Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical has announced an extension at Playhouse 46 at St. Luke's (308 W. 46th Street). Originally set to close on Sunday, January 1, performances will now continue with a limited 8 week extension beginning on January 13. 

2023 ABT Incubator to Feature Live Public Performance at Pace University's Schimmel Center

In its fifth official installment, ABT Incubator, American Ballet Theatre's in-house choreographic program, is scheduled for January 3-13, 2023. During the two-week workshop, selected choreographers will create new works on ABT dancers. The resulting pieces will be presented on January 13, 2023, at 6:00 P.M. EST at the Schimmel Center at Pace University's New York City campus. This will be the first time ABT Incubator will be presented for live public viewing.

STRANGER SINGS! THE PARODY MUSICAL Enters Final Two Weeks of Performances

Audiences have just two more weeks to see Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical at Playhouse 46 at St. Luke's (308 W. 46th Street). The hit Off-Broadway musical that brings everyone’s favorite streaming series to hilariously-twisted life on stage, will complete its limited 16 week engagement at Playhouse 46 at St. Luke's on January 1, 2023.

Review: FESTIVAL BALLET PROVIDENCE presents THE NUTCRACKER

In 2021, Festival Ballet Providence announced a brand new version of the holiday staple, THE NUTCRACKER, fully reimagined by the company's Artistic Curator, Yury Yanowsky, and Company Director Kathleen Breen Combs. Moving the show away from the Providence Performing Arts Center to the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium, audiences were treated to new sets, new costumes, new choreography, and, as usual, spectacular dancing.

Vivid Stage Announces Winter Improv Class for Adults and Teens

Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, is offering a new season of improv classes for adults and teens aged 18 and up. The next session, taught by instructor Shereen Hickman, will be held Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 starting January 11.

I will proudly admit it. I don't like Christmas shows. I once videotaped HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS and purposely stopped taping right about the time the Grinch was about to dump the presents off the edge of Mount Crumpet. I empathize with Miles Finch and Mr. Potter more than I do with Buddy the Elf and George Bailey.
