What did our critic think of SORDID LIVES at Austin Rainbow Theatre?

'Sordid Lives' is a celebration of diversity and the messy, imperfect beauty of family. Del Shores' brilliant writing, coupled with the cast's heartfelt performances, transforms the play into a powerful commentary on acceptance. This production not only entertains but serves as an introduction to the inclusive spirit of the Austin Rainbow Theatre.

Austin Rainbow Theatre, Central Texas' new home for LGBTQIA+ theatre, presents their inaugural production of Del Shores' raucous Texas comedy Sordid Lives at Ground Floor Theatre October 6-14th. This production stars nationally-acclaimed drag entertainer and local celebrity Nadine Hughes as Brother Boy, a role previously made famous by the late Leslie Jordan. Written by trailblazing playwright & 'master of Texas Comedy,' Del Shores, this hilarious romp is filled with southern charm and underscores what it means to be queer in Texas.

P3 THEATRE COMPANY, in association with the Del Shores Foundation and Beard Collins Shores Productions, is presenting the world premiere of THE RED SUITCASE, written by Jiggs Burgess, directed by Del Shores, assistant directed &  additional staging by Blake McIver Ewing, and starring Emerson Collins. This Week's New Classified Listings on BroadwayWorld for 8/3/2023 include new jobs for those looking to work in the theatre industry.

Jiggs Jurgess’ The Red Suitcase world premieres August 12, 2023, at the Broadwater Theatre Main Stage. Del Shores directs this co-production of P3 Theatre Company, the Del Shores Foundation and Beard Collins Shores Productions with the cast of Emerson Collins, Kristen McCullough, Bruce Melena, Charlotte Louise White, Mat Hayes, Pam Trotter and Tiago Santos. Emerson was most gracious in finding time to answer a few of my queries.

Buck Creek Players will present the first show of its 50th season with this play on their mainstage. 6 live in-person performances will be held at the playhouse starting Friday, August 4th and running through Sunday, August 13th.
