A favorite tradition of Orem's SCERA is A NIGHT OF BROADWAY--the annual concert that showcases local performers in songs from musicals. The show will go on this year in a special fully produced 'Quarantine Edition' that has been newly rehearsed, designed, and professionally filmed especially for streaming through social distancing. Adam J. Robertson, President and CEO of SCERA, and April Berlin, Operations Manager/Marketing and Development, spoke with BroadwayWorld about the concert and some of the effects of the pandemic on the community organization.

Of numerous operaphiles I have encountered, there is a fair amount of partisanship when it comes to COSI FAN TUTTE by Mozart. People either love it or dislike it. I believe the plot is partially to blame; an aging bachelor challenges two younger friends to test their fiancees' devotion and supposedly steadfast natures. They young men disguise themselves and woo each other's prospective mates.

Washington Nation Opera closes out the 2018-2019 season with a sampling of famous works from three of opera's most iconic comedies. The rising stars of Washington National Opera's training program, the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists, command the stage in a program entirely their own. Comedy and chaos ensue as the Young Artists perform a program of beloved comic scenes from three classic operas: Rossini's La Cenerentola, Strauss's Die Fledermaus, and Verdi's Falstaff. Falstaff, Verdi's final opera, is one of three operas he based on Shakespeare's work, the other two being Macbeth and Otello. WNO performs Otello this fall to open the 2019-2020 season.
