Tara Kromer BIO

Tara Kromer is a director and designer dedicated to bringing compelling stories to life onstage. Her experience in the theatre industry encompasses many disciplines including directing, sound design and audio engineering, props and puppetry design and construction, electrics, and stage management.
Tara earned her MFA at the University of Central Florida where her practical research was focused on Directing and Sound Design. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her work as a theatre professional has taken her to various venues including the Garden Theatre, the Athens Theatre, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, Orlando Repertory Theatre, Orlando Fringe, Mad Cow Theatre, Seaside Music Theatre, and the Hippodrome Theatre (in Florida), Steppenwolf Theater, Congo Square Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre (in Chicago, IL), Potsdam Music Theatre, New York Stage and Film, and the Hangar Theatre (in New York).
Tara was named the recipient of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival's SDC Directing Fellowship for the Southeast Region in 2015 and was a member of the 2015-2016 Stage Directors and Choreographer's Foundation Observership Class. She is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association and an Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographer's Society (SDC).

The Ensemble Company to Present STUPID F**KING BIRD in November


The Ensemble Company, now in their fourth year in residence at Penguin Point Productions located within the Oviedo Mall, will continue its season with Aaron Posner’s Stupid F***ing Bird, “sort of adapted from The Seagull by Anton Chekhov.”  The production will mark the Central Florida debut of the piece, which premiered at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in 2013.

All My Sons tells the story of Joe Keller, a successful, middle-aged, self-made man who has done a terrible and tragic thing. He framed his business partner for a crime and engineered his own exoneration. Now, his son is about to marry the partner's daughter, the affair is revisited, and his lie of a life is unraveled. In All My Sons, Arthur Miller creates a post-war American family in a tragic downfall of lies, greed, love, and loss, and demands its audience examine their own social responsibilities to all the sons and daughters of American wars.

PETE THE CAT Comes to Orlando REP


Orlando Repertory Theatre (Orlando REP) is ready to rock into spring with a feline favorite starring in his own musical, Pete The Cat. Written by Sarah Hammond and Will Aronson, the musical is based on the wildly popular children's book and television series Pete The Cat by James and Kimberly Dean. BWW Review: Garden Theatre's VIOLET, An Unfussy Musical with a Worthy Cast


A single-act show, it could use an occasional shot in the arm. Some of the songs drag and none are especially memorable. As bus stories goes, the pacing is a long, long way from Speed. The central love triangle between Violet and two boys on the bus (military officers Monty and Flick) feels all too familiar, and its engagement with the theme of interracial romance (Flick is African-American, Monty and Violet are white) feels underserved in a show that is ultimately about self-shame and misguided faith. Still, the show...

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES Comes to Orlando Rep


Orlando Repertory Theatre (Orlando REP) is beginning 2020 with an onstage adaptation of the beloved classic novel a?oeAnne of Green Gablesa?? by L.M. Montgomery. The stage play by the same name is reimagined by playwright R. N. Sandberg, and follows the story of young orphan Anne Shirley and the place in which she accidentally finds family, friends, and home. Anne of Green Gables opens to the public this Saturday, February 1 and runs through February 23 with performances on Saturdays and Sundays.
