Review: COME FROM AWAY at The Seattle Rep
by Jay Irwin - Dec 4, 2025
Dear Readers, back in 2015 we were blessed with the masterpiece that is “Come From Away” by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. It had one of its pre-broadway tryouts at The Seattle Rep and was a huge hit and personally, absolutely wrecked me emotionally. Now 10 years later this brilliant show is back at the Rep but with a local production as opposed to the Broadway or touring staging. And while the show still wrecked me and made me leave with a soaked handkerchief, there were some elements that gave me pause. We’ll get to those.

Review: PRIMARY TRUST at The Seattle Rep
by Jay Irwin - Nov 7, 2024
Dear Readers, really good storytelling doesn’t need flash and glitz. Sometimes, it just needs a touching story with solid performances. Such is Eboni Booth’s Pulitzer Prize winning play “Primary Trust” currently playing at the Seattle Rep. A sweet little unassuming story with a lovely arc.

BWW Review: Lovers Reunite in Strawberry Theatre Workshop's THE PAVILION
by Jay Irwin - Oct 15, 2019
On the surface, Craig Wright's a?oeThe Paviliona??, currently being offered from Strawberry Theatre Workshop, doesn't have all that much going for it. It's not a particularly enticing or thought provoking subject, a couple reconnecting at a reunion. But what it does have going for it is a cast of three performers, throwing their considerable talents into the roles, and that's what engages about this show more than anything.
