Michael A Ferrara Biography
Originally from Palm City, Florida, Michael A. Ferrara is a versatile and eclectic musician, equally at home in such diverse roles as conducting symphonic repertoire and performing in musical theater and opera pit orchestras. Having studied trumpet performance at Interlochen Arts Academy, Ferrara went on to study piano with Leon Fleisher student, Suzanne Newcomb, at Otterbein University in Ohio—where he also served as the founder of the school’s new music ensemble, Red Noise, and produced, conducted and performed several multimedia events. He went on to complete a M.M. in Orchestral Conducting at Bard College-Conservatory of Music, where he studied with faculty such as Harold Farberman, Joan Tower, and Dawn Upshaw to name a few. As both an orchestral and choral member, Ferrara has had the pleasure to work under conductors such as Leon Botstein, Jeffrey Malarsky, Adam Fischer, and James Bagwell spanning a wide range of orchestral literature. Ferrara currently resides in New York City. Hailed as “impressive” [Cabaret Scenes], Ferrara can also be seen teaching at CAP21 (Molloy College's Musical Theater program) as well as Pace University and New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts.
