Ojai Playwrights Conference (OPC), under the leadership of new Producing Artistic Director Jeremy B. Cohen, today announced the full roster of artists for its 26th Annual New Works Festival to be held August 2 – 6 in Ojai, CA.

"Finding the art in forward motion." That's how producer Sally Cade Holmes describes her work, and it's an apt - and elegant - description of the nebulous, multifaceted world of theatre producing. From festival credits to the off-Broadway favorite Puffs, or, Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic to the Broadway hit musical Anastasia, Holmes has often found herself working on productions that tap into audience's hearts and minds.

After a three-month submission period and over 400 play submissions from around the world, Sanguine is pleased to announce five finalists for its annual Project Playwright Festival. The audience favorite at the Festival receives a fully-produced premiere of their play in New York City as a part of Sanguine's 2018 season.

Corkscrew Theater Festival Artistic Director Thomas Kapusta announced the new festival today, which features 45 performances of 10 world premiere plays in repertory over 4 weeks this summer at the Paradise Factory Theatre.

As Tony Award nominations were being revealed on Tuesday to honor productions and performances during the 2016-17 season, organizers of The 2017 Spotlight Awards - honoring the best in high school musical theater throughout Middle Tennessee -  were tallying scores and assembling all the names of nominees for the awards presentation to be held Saturday, May 13, at Andrew Johnson Hall at Nashville's Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

With over 200 shows presented at FringeNYC Festival and 900 at Edinburgh Fringe, it's hard to be in the know about what's worth seeing. Even worse is having missed the show everyone is talking about post festival. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the Fringe Encore Series will present some of the most critically-acclaimed and crowd-pleasing shows from both festivals. But more importantly, pinpoints and cultivates the theater talent of tomorrow.

Playwrights Brian Reno and Gabriel Vega Weissman will present Loose Canon as part of the 19th annual New York International Fringe Festival- FringeNYC. Brian and Gabriel love a bargain. They drink beers on the couch instead of at the bar. One day, looking for something cheap to do, they entered a playwriting contest. Our fledgling artists wrote their first draft in the cradle of inspiration... the dining hall of Gowanus IKEA. Two years later they are excited to bring their work to life.

The definition of "by popular demand" -- Josh Drimmer's play the lighthouse invites the storm was chosen as the winner of Sanguine Theatre Company's Project Playwright Competition by a public audience in January. On April 30, Logan Reed (B'way: Asst. Dir., Bronx Bombers) directs the world premiere production at The Chain Theatre in Long Island City, NY.
