BIO
Jamal began his singing debut at the age of 7, in a town called Great Neck, Long Island. He performed in small concerts in school, and soon began performing at a local community theatre called "LEVELS." There he played roles such as Peter, in "Jesus Christ Superstar," as well as HUD, in the musical "HAIR." If that wasn't enough for him, he became quite interested in the arts and began performing at Great Neck South Middle and Highschool as well! Highlighting roles include, Enjolras, in "Les miserable," the Torreador, in "Carmen," and Bill Calhoun/Paul, in "Kiss Me Kate."
He attended The B.F.A Program at the Hartt School, where it wasn't until then, that his confidence and sheer perseverance began to shed light! He travelled occasionally to auditions in the city on the weekends with his college classmates almost booking his first National tour of "Footloose," but that fell through and he continued his studies, growing more and more fond of dance and taking extra classes with the dance majors when he had time.
His senior year he played the role of "Feste," in Shakespear's, "Twelfth Night," as well as the role of "Jake," a leading role in a new show titled, "Bandgeeks," which helped to showcase his talent that much further. After graduating from the Hartt school his successes continued for him in New Hampshire, where he worked at his very first summer stock playing the role of Seaweed J. Stubbs, in "Hairspray." After that he moved back home to Long Island and started auditioning again. Within his first month home he booked his first dance show, "ONE RIDE!" A brand new musical conceived by Robert Royston and based on the music of rodeo champion and country music legend, Chris LeDoux. He had an amazing time doing this show and learned a great deal about what it meant to be in apart of a rodeo. With no word of the show continuing anytime soon Jamal decided to go out auditioning again and that's when the next chapter of his life began, playing the role of "Simba," for Disney Cruise Lines! He worked a year and a half with the company, working on two of their ships, The Disney Wonder, and The Disney Magic! Both amazing experiences, getting the chance to travel and meet new guests every cruise!
He recently finished his second contract with Disney and landed his first IN'TL Tour with GREEN DAY's hit Broadway Musical, "American Idiot,"
