by Guest Blogger: Taylor Kyes - July 22, 2016
My life is as crazy as ever. Just because it is the summer does not mean that it is any less busy than the school year. I interned at Sportody.com this summer, I have to write an Extended Essay for the IB program, I have to get Inbound Certified for my fall internship, I just started my own blog, koffeekisses.com. I have schoolwork. And I haven't even thought about preparing for the District Festival for Thespians this fall.
BWW Review: Intimate EQUUS Provides Startling Take on Pain and Passion
by Matt Tamanini - July 21, 2016
EQUUS, presented and directed by Jeremy Seghers, now playing through July 24th at Orlando event site The Acre, is not a show that will appeal to everyone, as it treads not so lightly on a number of rather taboo issues. That being said, if your sensibilities are not easily rattled, the story of a startlingly damaged boy, performed in a unique theatrical venue, is a dramatic experience not to be missed.

Last year I had the privilege of participating in the revived summer production program, which was created and funded by the School Board of Alachua County. We put on Hairspray Jr. It was my very first musical or theater production ever, and it genuinely changed my life. This year I was not able to participate in the production of High School Musical Jr. because of an internship opportunity with a company, but I got to see the production last night… so now I get to rave about it and the program.

St. Luke's United Methodist Church to Present BIG RIVER
by BWW News Desk - July 06, 2016
Twain's timeless classic sweeps us down the mighty Mississippi as the irrepressible Huck Finn helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Their adventures along the way are hilarious, suspenseful and heartwarming, bringing to life your favorite characters from the novel-the Widow Douglas and her stern sister, Miss Watson; the uproarious King and Duke, who may or may not be as harmless as they seem; Huck's partner in crime, Tom Sawyer, and their rowdy gang of pals; Huck's drunken father, the sinister Pap Finn; the lovely Mary Jane Wilkes and her trusting family. Propelled by an award winning score from Roger Miller, the king of country music, this jaunty journey provides a brilliantly theatrical celebration of pure Americana. Music by Roger Miller | Lyrics by Roger Miller | Book by William Hauptman | Directed by Steve McKinnon Adapted from the novel by Mark Twain
BWW Blog: Anastasia Sims-Chin - The Rainbow Connection
by Guest Blogger: Anastasia Sims-Chin - July 06, 2016
Everyone has heard about it, all around the world. The deadliest shooting in US history happened right here, in Orlando. As actors, it's mind boggling as to why anyone would be unaccepting to others because of their sexual orientation, race, gender, or otherwise. In theatre, we are a family, and everyone is accepted. The only good that could come out of a tragedy like this is the need for the community to come together and make a statement for the LGBTQ community. As an OCPS and Winter Park High School student I got the amazing experience of singing with 400 other students and teachers the song 'Beautiful City' from Godspell. This song represented how we can come together and make Orlando beautiful again.
