There is something magical, and just a little bit naughty, in the air at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts this week. Starting tonight and running through Sunday, May 14th, the national tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL sets up shop in Orlando. With a book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, the Tony-winning production ran for nearly four years on Broadway, closing this past January.

TheatreZone Announces Behind-the-Scenes Tours Before Select 2017-18 Shows

TheatreZone will begin offering behind-the-scenes tours prior to the first Saturday matinee of each show next season. The 90-minute small group tours led by Artistic Director Mark Danni and Managing Director Karen Molnar Danni will include views of the dressing rooms, costume storage areas and behind the stage, as well as a brief presentation about the history of TheatreZone and the opportunity to watch actors preparing on stage with mic checks and vocal warmups for the afternoon's performance. A ticket to that day's show is not required. The ability to climb stairs is required, as elevator access is not available for all areas.
MegaCon Orlando to Honor Victims of Pulse Nightclub Shooting with LOVE IS LOVE Events

MegaCon, the Southeast's largest fan conventions with shows in both Orlando and Tampa Bay, has come together with Marc Andreyko's (DC Comics) Love is Love project to host a weekend of programming to honor the victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre during MegaCon Orlando, May 25-28, 2017 at the Orange County Convention Center. The proceeds will benefit Equality Florida, Florida's civil rights leader working for the LGBT community.
Garden Theatre Announces 2017 Summer Movie Series

The Garden Theatre is pleased to announce the 2017 Summer Movie Series, running from June 15 through August 5 at the Garden Theatre (160 West Plant Street, Winter Garden).  This summer's line-up includes 28 feature-length films: Thursday Vintage Favorites and movie marathons as part of the new Big Screen Binge Series. The Garden's family-friendly Milk Money Movies will also be presented from June 13 through July 25 on Tuesday mornings.

Phoenix Tears Productions brings two unique experiences to the Orlando Fringe Festival. The site specific show combines narrative podcast-like audio with live performers and a walking tour of the Orlando Urban Trail. The company has two versions of this show a kid friendly adventure and an 18+ experience. Both shows follow a fairy and a pirate and the same basic path but each experience is immersive and unique.
