Hobey Ford's Golden Rod Puppets Perform at Alden Theatre 1/29

By: Jan. 13, 2011

The Alden Theatre's McLean Kids Performance Series will present Hobey Ford's Golden Rod Puppets in Animalia, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29. Tickets are $12, $8 for McLean tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

"Animalia" is a puppetry ballet of animal creatures called "the foamies," incredibly realistic animal puppets created by Ford. The show explores the beauty and movement of whales, dolphins, birds, butterflies, wolves and a menagerie of other animal creatures.

Ford designs, builds and performs in puppet productions throughout the United States and Canada. Drawing on art, woodworking and basic engineering skills, he designs and crafts his puppets. Employing complicated mechanisms and careful manipulation, while using his own voice and storytelling skills, he brings his puppets to life.

Tickets are on sale now! To purchase tickets, stop by the Alden Theatre Box Office, or to purchase tickets by telephone or online, contact TICKETMASTER at 703-573-SEAT, or www.ticketmaster.com. For more information, call 703-790-9223 or visit www.mcleancenter.org/alden/mcleankids.asp
