ANNOUNCES OPEN AUDITIONS FOR

THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY

Firehouse Theatre Project announces open auditions for The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity by Kristoffer Diaz, Tuesday October 15 at Firehouse Theatre, 1609 W. Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220. Director Kerry McGee seeks five males of various ethnic backgrounds and ages who are physically fit.

To set up an audition slot please email Artistic Director Jase Smith at
jase@firehousetheatre.org.

2011 Obie Award Winner for Best New American Play and finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity is a serious minded comedy about wrestling, geopolitics, and raisin bread. Mace is a really good professional wrestler. He's not the champion though - that's the impossibly charismatic Chad Deity. When Mace discovers a young Indian-American Brooklyn kid whose charisma rivals that of the champ, Mace decides to get him a job in the company. The only problem is that the boss has a very specific plan for the duo: put them onscreen as terrorists, exploiting racial stereotypes in the name of ratings.

ROLES AVAILABLE:

MACEDONIO 'MACE' GUERRA: Late 20's-early 30's. A Puerto-Rican professional wrestler. Good at what he does. Somewhat undersized, but still fit. Our hero. Must have a feel for language/hip-hop rhythms.

CHAD DEITY: Early 30's-mid 40's. African American, champion of THE Wrestling. Confident, charismatic, handsome, with a tremendous physique. Not a very good wrestler.

VIGNESHWAR 'VP' PADUAR: Late 20's-early 30's. An Indian American Brooklynite. Charismatic, natural, effortless. Must have a feel for language/hip-hop rhythms.

JOE JABRONI: Late 20's-mid-40's, Caucasian. A professional wrestler. Actor plays several roles including BILLY HEARTLAND and OLD GLORY. MUST be extremely physically fit, previous wrestling experience preferred.

EVERETT K. OLSON: (also known as EKO) - the Caucasian owner of THE Wrestling; brash, confident, ostensibly our villain.

Rehearsals begin early January 2014 and show runs February 6 - March 8, 2014.

Actors are asked to prepare a 2-3 minute contemporary monologue and may be asked to read from the script. Please also provide a copy of your headshot and resume at the time of your audition. Lease list any professional wrestling experience on your resume. Callbacks will take place onWednesday, October 16, 2013 at Firehouse Theatre.
