Stageworks Presents 'As Bees in Honey Drown' At The Shimberg Playhouse In Tampa

As Bees in Honey Drown is coming to the Shimberg Playhouse this season. The theater is located at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center at 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa, Florida. The show will play July 8-25. It will begin at 8PM Thursdays - Saturdays and Sundays at 4PM. Ticket Prices are $24.50 and $10 for Students and Seniors. Jim Meadows is accustomed to treading the boards with the Bay Street Players. He has appeared onstage in productions ranging from the raucous 'Full Monty' to the classic 'Oklahoma.' This year, he adds Board President to the list of roles he's tackled for the theatre. 'I appreciate the trust the board has placed in me,' says Meadows. 'It's my job, as president, to continue the excellence we've achieved over the past 35 seasons.' Off-stage, Meadows is Senior Consulting Manager, Global Consulting Services at Convergys.

The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park, in partnership with the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, invites high school students to compete in the 18th Annual Young Artist Competition. Prizes are awarded in both the preliminary and finalist rounds for a total of $5,000, one of the largest combined prize winnings in the state.
Paul Rudnick's 'The New Century' - Auditions At The Waterfront Playhouse

The Waterfront Playhouse announces auditions for 'The New Century' by Paul Rudnick, which is part of their 2010/11 season. The auditions will be held on Thursday, October 14, 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Waterfront Playhouse. Director Rich Simone will be looking for five experienced comedic actors between the ages of 20 to 60. The play requires actors who are comfortable with the verbal demands of the script, as well as fitting the specific types of the characters. A complete character breakdown is on our website: www.WaterfrontPlayhouse.org. Production dates for 'The New Century' are April 5 to April 23 with rehearsals beginning sometime early March. All of the roles are open and all are paid.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Sammy Williams toured in shows in upstate New York before making it to Broadway in 1973. While dancing in 'Seesaw,' a show by Broadway powerhouse Michael Bennett, Williams was picked for a group of dancers to participate in and be filmed, candidly discussing the trials and tribulations of life in the theater. What Williams didn't realize was that Bennett planned to turn the material into a history-making production called 'A Chorus Line.'
