FST's Goldstein Cabaret returns to the age of innocence with The Wanderers, developed byRichard Hopkins, Rebecca Langford and Jim Prosser, beginning October 13.

Take a stroll under the street-lamps of the 50s and 60s with the boys from the neighborhood! The Wanderers will hop and harmonize in a celebration of music that defined what it meant to be young.

"There's something very exciting about this music, the beautiful harmonies that are created, and the com-bination of the male voices," said Francis Kelly, cast member of The Wanderers. "Getting to hear it live onstage in front of you adds a vitality to the experience, much greater than if you heard it on an old record-ing."

The nostalgia-induced, finger-snapping music revue features songs like "Under the Boardwalk," "At The Hop," and "When I'm 64." The Wanderers explores the music that hailed from street corner a capella groups and transformed into Doo Wop groups of the late 50s, like The Platters and The Drifters. It then traces thatstyle as it influenced male vocal groups of the 60s, including the British Invasion heartthrobs, The Beatles.

The Wanderers combines pitch-perfect harmonies with sweet and simple lyrics that culminate in a joyousride down memory lane. The Wanderers cast is made up of returning FST actors Eric Collins, Robert H. Fowler, Francis Kelly, andnewcomer Bryan McElroy. Eric was last seen in Hula Hoop Sha-Boop and That's Life, while Robert andFrancis both starred in last season's Reflections. Bryan comes to Sarasota straight from the national tour of Jersey Boys. Led by FST's Artistic Director, Richard Hopkins, the production also features FST favorites, John Franceschina as Music Director and Jimmy Hoskins as Choreographer. Costume & Scenic Design by Susan Angermann, Lighting Design by Robert Perry, and Sound Engineering by John Valines will round outthe production staff for The Wanderers.

The Wanderers opens the Cabaret Season October 13, and plays through January 1, 2011 at the Goldstein Cabaret. Tickets are $19 - $29 and may be purchased from the FST Box Office in person, by phone (941) 366-9000 or online at www.floridastudiotheatre.org

"This years' Cabaret season will take audiences on a journey through the fresh sounds that emerged during the latter half of the 20th century, and end with a bang when we present a new edition of Laughing Matters.
