No matter what you do to a production of SOUTH PACIFIC, it is still going to have that unbelievably great Rodgers and Hammerstein score. Decades after SOUTH PACIFIC premiered on Broadway, won the Pulitzer, the Tony and just about every other award available for it to win and became the new long run champ, SOUTH PACIFIC still assaults our senses and perhaps our soul with SOME ENCHANTED EVENING, A COCKEYED OPTIMIST, THERE IS NOTHIN' LIKE A DAME, BALI HA'I, I'M GONNA WASH THAT MAN RIGHT OUTA MY HAIR, A WONDERFUL GUY, YOUNGER THAN SPRINGTIME, HAPPY TALK, HONEY BUN, and YOU'VE GOT TO BE CAREFULLY TAUGHT, just to name the majority.

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County proudly presents The House Theatre of Chicago's critically-acclaimed production of DEATH and HARRY HOUDINI. This play marks the second House Theatre of Chicago production presented at the Adrienne Arsht Center after last season's The Sparrow. Written and directed by The House's Artistic Director Nathan Allen, DEATH and HARRY HOUDINI delivers a roller coaster ride through the life of the great magician, Harry Houdini, and his life-long battle against death. House Company Member and award-winning magician, Dennis Watkins, has joined the cast and is set to perform Houdini's most renowned and dangerous escape-the dreaded Water Torture Cell-in this dark and tumultuous story guaranteed to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. DEATH and HARRY HOUDINI plays in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House) from April 26 - May 20, 2012.

Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr. have enjoyed tremendous success over the last four decades as recording artists, performers and authors. They have received seven Grammy Awards and earned 15 gold and three platinum records, and enjoyed starring roles on television and stage. Both as a duo and as lead vocalists of The 5th Dimension, one of the most popular singing groups in the late 60s and early 70s, they have performed to sold-out concerts around the world. Among their top hits are Up, Up & Away, Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In, Wedding Bell Blues, One Less Bell to Answer, Stones Soul Picnic and You Don't Have to Be a Star (To Be in My Show). This will be the second Royal Room engagement for Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr., following their Colony Hotel debut in Spring 2009.

After losing their ancestral home, Belle Reve, Blanche shows up at the doorstep of her sister, Stella, in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Putting on airs of refinement and Southern gentility, Blanche tries to impress her brother-in-law, and his gentle, good-natured friend, Mitch. Seeking to escape from reality, and an emblem of a lost traditional South, Blanche becomes a victim of the harsh present. Marlon Brando starred in the Broadway production and the 4-time Academy Award-winning film adaptation. This will mark the 65th Anniversary of this enduring Tennessee Williams classic.
