BRIFT Hosts Major Fundraising Event at L'Auberge Resort, Now thru 8/4

The Board of Directors for the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre (BRIFT) has announced plans for a major fundraising event to be sponsored by and held at the L'Auberge Resort in St. Charles, Louisiana. The fundraiser, which will include a special appearance by the Bandit himself will be a three day whirlwind of fun. In the planning stages are a Burt Reynolds Poker Tournament, a golf tournament and a lavish evening gala celebrating Reynolds and his 55+ year career.

Mark B. Rosenblum Named New CFO of Florida Grand Opera

Florida Grand Opera (FGO) welcomes the return of an esteemed former colleague, Mark B. Rosenblum. Having previously served as FGO's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Rosenblum returns as the newly appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective August 5, 2013. Reporting directly to General Director and CEO Susan T. Danis, the new CFO is tasked with the overall financial management of organizational resources, which includes an $11 million budget.

The South Florida Writers Association will present My Name Is Solamae, a musical adaptation of the first volume of Author/Playwright Linda Cardinal Schneider's popular childrens' book series The Little MouseSolamae. The play, which won the 2011 South Florida Writer's Association Playwriting contest, will be directed by Michelle Cote, and will feature The Brown Sisters. My Name Is Solamae will be performed on August 10th at 2 pm at The Roxy Theatre in Miami.

In addition to a full schedule of classes, one program that has grown during the past several years is the educational aspect of dance - particularly the Cecchetti method, a ballet technique and training system devised by the Italian ballet master Enrico Cecchetti.
