THE SOAP MYTH Starring Emmy Award-winning Legend Ed Asner Comes to The Arsht Center

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (@arshtcenter) is proud to present a staged reading of THE SOAP MYTH, a drama by Jeff Cohen, in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Directed by Pam Berlin and playing for one night only on January 22 in the Center's John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall, THE SOAP MYTH dramatizes the powerful confrontation between survivor memory and historical memory and depicts the insidiousness of Holocaust denial. Seven-time Emmy Award winner Ed Asner (Pixar's UP, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Lou Grant) and three-time Emmy and Tony Award nominee Kate Burton (Scandal, Grey's Anatomy) will star in the play reading along with Ned Eisenberg and Blair Baker.

BEACH MAJOR SERIES Returns To Fort Lauderdale 2/27 - 3/4

For the second consecutive year, Fort Lauderdale will welcome the season's first Beach Major Series event of the FIVB season when Olympic and World Champion pairs battle it out on the South Florida sand for a $600,000 prize purse, the highest prize total on the tour. The six-day tournament will last from February 27 March 4, and will once again feature days packed with non-stop competition and remarkable night matches under the lights for the fans that visit the Red Bull Beach Arena.

The musical, The Book of Mormon, which lampoons both organized religion and traditional musical theatre, was conceived by Trey Parker, Matt Stone (creators of South Park), and Robert Lopez. This hysterically funny show is not for the faint of heart. While it comes with a parental advisory for explicit language, it should also come with a general caution to all for its possibly offensive representation of organized religion. However, as ridiculous and potentially offensive as some of this show may be, The Book of Mormon is a delectable guilty pleasure!
