IlluminArts Presents Tenor Michael Slattery and La Nef in Dowland in Dublin at the Betsy Hotel
IlluminArts, Miami's Art Song and Vocal Chamber Music series, will present internationally acclaimed tenor, Michael Slattery, in performance with the award winning Canadian baroque ensemble La Nef on January 28, 2018 in the beautiful gallery space of The Betsy Hotel at 7:00 PM.
In 2012, Slattery and La Nef released their Dowland in Dublin recording, which was hailed by Opera News as one of the 10 best recordings of 2012. A celebration of Dowland's best music, this concert will feature arrangements created by the ensemble, along with Mr. Slattery's sweet tenor, to take audiences on a celtic journey. A highly sensitive performer, Mr. Slattery's singing has been lauded by the New York Times as having, "sweet-toned tenderness," and Opera News exclaimed, "Michael Slattery gave the most intense and highly skilled performance I have ever seen by anybody in anything. The ovation he received at the end was thunderous." The American Record Guide raved, "Michael Slattery is a stunningly communicative actor and singer. So intense was the emotion it seemed as if time itself stopped for the listener." He has previously performed with the New York Philharmonic, Festival Aix-en-Provence, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Philadelphia Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, the Edinburgh Festival, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, to name a few.
