Broward Cultural Division Seeks Community Input on New Cultural Festival Funding
By: BWW News Desk Sep. 09, 2016
Broward Cultural Division invites the community to assist with the development of a proposed funding program for cultural festivals. A workshop with information and the opportunity to provide input will take place, September 20, 6 pm, at Bailey Contemporary Arts in Pompano Beach.
Festivals build community, foster cultural exchange and understanding, and help increase tourism. This new Cultural Festival program, slated to launch in 2017, plans to increase access to the arts, science, media, design, history and heritage offerings by providing funding for quality cultural festivals throughout Broward County. The new funding program is developing in response to requests to support cultural festival projects and is intended to recognize the needs of local or regional, cultural festival presenters and producers. The funding will support festivals that include audience participation and the involvement of community organizations, presenters, performance groups, individual artists, and creative industry events, such as Arts Districts or Art Walks, or creative business summits.
