Kendall Harnett Named to Board of Portland Ovations

Kendall Harnett has been named to the Board of Directors of Portland Ovations the 81 year-old not-for-profit performing arts organization based in Portland, Maine.

Harnett, a Yarmouth resident moved to Maine in 2004 with his family after participating in Trek Across Maine and works with a Chicago director to produce documentaries and corporate films for organizations such as the American Hospital Association, Chicago Housing Authority and Good Will, as well as teaches a variety of film and design classes at Southern Maine Community College.

Kendall received his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Film Studies from Indiana University. While in attendance there Harnett made a short film, Gun Play, which was chosen for the Heartland Film Festival in the student division. The film went on to earn a Promising Filmmaker Award and was screened on PBS. With this success in filmmaking Kendall moved to Chicago to pursue his Masters of Fine Art in Film Production at Columbia College. While there Harnett shot a number of award winning short films, documentaries and received the National Panavision Award for Cinematography, which is granted to two students annually. After graduation he worked on a number of television programs ranging from MTV to Oprah.
