BWW Review: Another Fantastic Musical Theater Heritage Production - FUNNY GIRL at Crown Center

Kansas City has one of the best performing arts communities in the country, but don't take my word for it, prove it to yourself by seeing FUNNY GIRL at Musical Theater Heritage in Crown Center. Every time I think that I have seen the best that Kansas City has to offer I am proven wrong by another grand production from a local theatrical production company.

The fourth annual ALPHABET SOUP STORIES FROM QUEER VOICES opened Friday, April 12, at the Squeezebox Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri to a full house. The short play showcase produced by Whim Productions runs through April 21 at the small intimate theater. The showcase features seven plays all written by members of the LGBTQ community, exploring aspects of the homosexual lifestyle.

KCAT Announces Cast And Creative Staff For MORNING'S AT SEVEN

Kansas City Actors Theatre has completed casting for its production of Paul Osborn's "Morning's at Seven," which will run from May 22 to June 9 at the City Stage in Union Station. The production will be directed by Dennis Hennessy of The New Theater in Overland Park, and will star Deb Bluford, Greg Butell, Krista Eyler, Peggy Friesen, Jeannine Hutchings, Gary Neal Johnson, Merle Moores, Victor Raider-Wexler, and Mark Robbins (KCAT co-founder). The production will also feature set design by Gary Mosby, costumes by Sarah M. Oliver, lighting design by Shane Rowse, sound design by Jon Robertson, and props from Shawnna Journagan.

I can honestly say I have never laughed so hard as I did on opening night of THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, my jaws still ached twelve hours later. Presented by The American Theatre Guild as part of the 2018-2019 Broadway Series the play runs through Sunday, April 7. I don't know that I have ever seen a play that kept a smile on my face from several minutes before the production started on stage, until the final curtain.
