[VELMA KELLY] – *ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED Character is female (cis or transgender), 30 – 45, any ethnicity. Sarcastic, extremely sexy, tough, funny murderer with a keen eye for publicity. A spectacular dancer in the Fosse style, with a big, first-rate Broadway belt voice.

[BILLY FLYNN] *ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED Character is male (cis or transgender), 38 – 60, any ethnicity. Suave, educated lawyer who can talk and wheedle and persuade anyone to do anything—his clients literally get away with murder. Sensual, handsome, charming. Has a wonderful baritone voice and moves well.

[AMOS HART] *ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED Character is male (cis or transgender), 38 – 58, any ethnicity. Charming, funny, vulnerable milquetoast of a person, so in love with his wife that he would mortgage anything to pay for her outrageous extravagances. Sings well and is physically adept; comic-sad.

[MATRON “MAMA” MORTON]*ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED Character is female (cis or transgender), 37 – 55, any ethnicity. Has a great belt voice and is sensual, funny, powerful and tough. Dancing ability is a plus.

[MARY SUNSHINE] – *ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED Character is female (cis or transgender), any age, any ethnicity. Soprano who can sing legitimately up to a high B flat. Acts like a good-natured talk show hostess but is actually a high-powered gossip columnist. A good comedian and a GREAT legit singer.

[REVELER 1, MORDRED/SQUIRE DAP] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 20-29, any ethnicity. Illegitimate son of King Arthur. A truly evil young man, who was sired by Arthur when the King was young and naive. A thoroughly and fascinatingly unlikeable fellow. Has strong dramatic acting skills (antagonist). Doubles in the first act as Lancelot’s valet Squire Dap, an old man.

[REVELERS 2, 3, 4, SIR DINADAN, SIR LIONEL, SIR SAGRAMORE] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 20-29, any ethnicity. Three named knights who serve Arthur. All devoted to Guenevere. They don't care for Lancelot. Strong virile knights; excellent legit singers with big voices.

[REVELER 5, TOM OF WARWICK] – (Non-singing) Character is portrayed as a boy, 9-12, any ethnicity. JUVENILE ROLE. A young boy destined to be a knight. He wants to fight for what is right and gives Arthur hope for the future. Appears at the end of the show, but may be worked into the ensemble as a page, squire, etc.

[REVELER 6, KING ARTHUR] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 20-29, any ethnicity. Arthur is generous, compassionate, boyish, unsure of himself, yet an inspiration to others. Arthur grows from a scrappy boy known as Wart, into a powerful king. Cerebral yet virile. Rich and complex. Has a pleasant singing voice and is age 18 early in the play.

[REVELER 7, GUENEVERE] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 20-29, any ethnicity. A spirited woman quite caught up in chivalry and the exciting possibilities of a promised life. She loves Arthur but is in love with Lancelot. Has legit singing skills. Is age 18 early in the play; smart, with a touch of funny; there's an underlying smoldering sensuality here; accomplished singer.

[REVELER 8, LANCELOT] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 20-29, any ethnicity. High baritone. Abundantly self-assured Knight from France, who is a passionate disciple of Arthur and his roundtable. The Greatest Knight in the world, whose only weakness is his love for Guenevere. Smoldering sexuality; magnetic; classical training in both voice and acting. Has legit singing skills. Creates a strong, confident presence.

[MARY POPPINS] – * ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is female (cis or transgender), 20’s, any ethnicity. Jane and Michael Banks' new nanny. She is extraordinary and strange, neat, and tidy, delightfully vain yet particular, and sometimes a little frightening but always exciting. She is practically perfect in every way and always means what she says. A mezzo soprano with strong top notes, moves well. Vocal range: Bb3 – C6.

[BERT] – * ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), 30’s, any ethnicity. The narrator of the story is a good friend to Mary Poppins. An everyman, Bert has many occupations, including hurdy-gurdy player, sidewalk artist and chimney sweep. Bert watches over the children as well as the goings on in Cherry Tree Lane. Has charm, speaks with a Cockney accent and is a song-and-dance type. Tap experience required. Vocal range: B2 – F#4.

[GEORGE BANKS] – * ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), 40’s, any ethnicity. The father to Jane and Michael Banks, is a banker to the very fiber of his being. Demanding precision and order in his household, he is a pipe-and-slippers man who doesn't have much to do with his children and believes that he had the perfect upbringing by his nanny, the cruel Miss Andrew. His emotional armor, however, conceals a sensitive soul. A baritone. Vocal range: Bb2 – Eb4.

[WINIFRED BANKS] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 30’s, any ethnicity. George's wife and Jane and Michael's mother. A former actress, she is a loving and distracted homemaker who is busy trying to live up to her husband's desire to only associate with the best people as well as be a model wife and mother. She suffers from the conflicting feelings that she's not up to the job of being Mrs. Banks, yet, she is, and more. She has great warmth and simplicity to her tone. Vocal range: A3 – D5.

[JANE BANKS] – Character is portrayed as a girl, age 11, any ethnicity. JUVENILE ROLE. The high-spirited daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Banks. Bright and precocious but can be willful and inclined to snobbishness. Vocal range: A3 – F#5.

[MICHAEL BANKS] – Character is portrayed as a boy, age 9, any ethnicity. JUVENILE ROLE. The cute and cheeky son of Mr. and Mrs. Banks. Excitable and naughty, he adores his father and tries to be like him. Both he and Jane misbehave in order to get the attention of their parents. Vocal range: A3 – E5.

[ROBERTSON AY] – * ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), 20’s-30’s, any ethnicity. The houseboy to the Banks family. Lazy, sleepy and grumbling, he never gets things right and believes himself to be useless. Vocal range: F3 – G#4.

[MRS. BRILL] – * ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is female (cis or transgender), 50’s-60’s, any ethnicity. The housekeeper and cook for the Banks family. Overworked and harassed, she's always complaining that the house is understaffed. Her intimidating exterior is a cover for the warmth underneath. Mrs. Brill doesn't have a high opinion of nannies in general and Mary Poppins in particular. Vocal range: F#3 – D#5.

[ADMIRAL BOOM/BANK MANAGER] – * ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), 50’s, any ethnicity. Admiral Boom: A retired Royal Navy man and neighbor of the Banks family. With a loud and booming voice, he speaks in Navy jargon and has a soft spot for his neighbor, Miss Lark. Bank Manager: The head of the bank, where Mr. Banks is employed, is an Edwardian stuffed shirt. Vocal range: C3 – D4.

[BIRD WOMAN/MISS SMYTHE/MISS ANDREW] – * ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is female (cis or transgender), 50’s, any ethnicity. Bird Woman: Covered in a patchwork of old shawls, her pockets are stuffed with bags of crumbs for the birds. She tries to sell her crumbs to the passersby, who ignore her as if she doesn't exist. Sings Feed the Birds. There can be a gruff, folksy quality to her voice that reflects the hardness of her life. Vocal range: Gb3 – C5. Miss Smythe: The Bank Manager’s humorless secretary. Miss Andrew: George's overbearing and scary nanny. With her bottle of nasty-tasting brimstone and treacle to keep naughty children in line, she is a bully who only knows one way of doing things - her way. A soprano with an alto belt. Vocal range: Gb3 – F5.

[SWEENEY TODD]* ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), 40’s-50’s, any ethnicity. An impassioned, emotionally wounded man imprisoned on a false charge. He returns as a murderous barber seeking revenge and reconciliation with his family, which ultimately turns to obsession. He finds vengeance in his razors by systematically slitting the throats of all his enemies. He becomes consumed by his thirst for blood. An excellent British accent. Strong baritone with low Gb to high Gb.

[MRS. NELLIE LOVETT]* ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is female (cis or transgender), 40’s-50’s, any ethnicity. Hardy and resourceful owner of a pie shop on Fleet Street. Hard-edged but with a savvy sense of humor. Lovett aids Sweeney in his massacre by making meat pies out of his victims. Her love for him clouds her judgement and is ultimately her undoing. Comic with depth. An excellent British accent. Has an excellent mezzo-soprano voice up to a high E.

[JUDGE TURPIN]* ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), 50’s-60’s, any ethnicity. The man responsible for sending Benjamin Barker to prison and the destruction of Todd’s family. Pompous, self-centered, and powerful. He plans to wed his charge Johanna, Todd’s daughter. Powerful, unforgiving, rich, and egocentric. An excellent British accent. Strong bass voice with low E to high F.

[ANTHONY HOPE]* ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), 20’s, any ethnicity. Anthony is a handsome young sailor, befriended by Todd whom he has rescued during the voyage home. Trusting, optimistic and romantic, he is prepared to fight for his beliefs. Somewhat innocent of the darker side of society and isn’t wise to the ulterior motives of others who try to use him for their own needs. An excellent British accent. Has an excellent baritone voice to a high F with strong falsetto for ensemble moments.

[JOHANNA BARKER]* ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is female (cis or transgender), late teens to early 20’s, any ethnicity. Johanna is Sweeney Todd's daughter, stolen from the barber many years ago by Judge Turpin who has taken her in as his ward. Up in her room, Johanna is locked away from the world. She has no idea about her real father, but still dreams of freedom outside. Youthful and innocent with a quirky side. An excellent British accent. A legitimate lyric soprano to a high B flat and up to a high D for ensemble moments.

[BEADLE BAMFORD]* ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), late 30’s-50, any ethnicity. Sleazy, menacing henchman of the Judge. He can be subtly terrifying or outright threatening yet, equally fastidious, and fussy. An excellent British accent. A strong tenor to a high D.

[TOBIAS RAGG] – Character is male (cis or transgender), late teens to mid-20’s, any ethnicity. Young, waifish and vulnerable. A bit of an urchin with a good heart. Assistant to Pirelli, he is an abused orphan. He comes to view Mrs. Lovett as a surrogate mother figure. An excellent British accent. Has an excellent tenor voice to a high A flat.

[PIRELLI]* ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is male (cis or transgender), late 30's–40's, any ethnicity. An “Italian” (revealed later as not) traveling salesman/scam artist who invents a hair tonic and sells it to the inhabitants of Fleet Street. Long-winded, self-absorbed, and brazen, he challenges Sweeney to a shaving match – and loses. Unconventional, darkly comic. Has a high operatic tenor voice.

[BEGGAR WOMAN]* ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED AND ACCEPTED Character is female (cis or transgender), 40-50’s, any ethnicity. Once glamorous “Lucy”, she’s a mentally unstable unhoused woman and prostitute. Seemingly helpless and naïve until she lifts up her skirts and propositions any man who walks by. Mentally damaged and out of touch by the hard life she has lived. It turns out that she is the wife of Sweeney, the man she loved deeply many years ago. Has significant music skills, in particular a high, legit soprano.

LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL

[ELLE WOODS] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 20-25, mezzo-soprano belt to C#5, any ethnicity. Confident and bubbly, Elle is the quintessential Valley Girl, who follows her boyfriend to Harvard Law School and discovers she has much more to offer than her blonde hair. She is sharp, creative, driven and positive. A triple threat and is able to carry the show (Elle is onstage for nearly the entire runtime). Comfortable with dogs.

[EMMETT FORREST] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 20-25, tenor, any ethnicity. A smart, sensitive, and sometimes sarcastic law student who mentors Elle. He got into Harvard Law by keeping his eye on the prize and working twice as hard as everyone else. He is nerdy, stubborn and deeply caring. Comfortable with dogs.

[PAULETTE BUONAFONTE] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 40-60, mezzo-soprano belt, any ethnicity. Paulette is the owner of Hair Affair, a local salon. She is a warm, supportive dreamer who becomes Elle's confidant. She and Elle help each other achieve their dreams! An excellent comedian and has a powerful belt. Comfortable with dogs. Comfort with a Bostonian accent is a plus.

[PROFESSOR CALLAHAN] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 40-60, tenor, any ethnicity. A pompous, smooth, authoritative, and manipulative law professor. He has a reputation for being an extremely strict and tough professor and a highly successful lawyer. He will do anything to get what he wants.

[WARNER HUNTINGTON III] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 20-25, tenor, any ethnicity. Good-looking and charming, yet shallow and self-absorbed. Warner breaks up with Elle to go to Harvard Law. He sees himself as a future Law School star and Elle as just a bubbly dumb blonde. He is opportunistic and cares deeply about his reputation.

[VIVIENNE KENSINGTON] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 20-25, mezzo-soprano belt to G#5, any ethnicity. A smart, serious, and uptight law student, seemingly the polar opposite of Elle. She comes from a very conservative East Coast background and is everything that Warner wants to complete his picture-perfect Harvard Law experience. She becomes Warner’s fiancée, initially dismisses Elle, but grows to become her friend and supporter.

[BROOKE WYNDHAM] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 20-25, mezzo-soprano to G#5, any ethnicity. An exercise video tycoon who is an alum of Elle’s sorority. She is passionate and non-nonsense. She is also currently on trial for her husband’s murder. Has dance skills and is able to do high level aerobics with enough stamina to continue singing.

[ENID HOOPS] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 20-25, soprano/mezzo belter, any ethnicity. Enid is a strong and passionate activist and a fellow law student at Harvard. She is skeptical of Elle, but eventually becomes her friend. Is able to patter-sing clearly.

[SERENA, MARGOT, PILAR] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 20-25, soprano/mezzo/alto, any ethnicity. These threeladies are Elle’s trio of best friends and sorority sisters, who help her navigate the story by acting as a “Greek Chorus”. Serena is the energetic cheerleader. Margot is the seemingly dim-witted, boy-crazy sorority sister. Pilar is the confident and sensible one. Comfortable with dogs.

[CELIE] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 20s - mid 30s, African American. Drives the story. Vulnerable, spirited, introverted, mischievous, seemingly passive but really not, has a deep, hard soul, believes that she is ugly, has a sense of humor which is sometimes wicked. She is an observer. Her eyes are very telling. Eventually breaks away from a life of mistreatment and finds love and independence. Has a great belt singing voice with lots of soul.

[MISTER] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 30s - 40s, African American. Also known as Albert. Strong presence, dominating, capable of brutal behavior but also a victim in his own way. Gets his power for free. Married to Celie, he abuses her. He is in love with Shug. He transforms into a kind man by the end of the story. A great singing voice.

[SHUG] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 30s - 50s, African American. A popular singer, we meet her at death’s door. Comfortable in her sexuality, dynamic, powerful, irresistible, has a frailty, like a wounded animal. Her vulnerability is shocking later on. She is loved by both Celie and Mister. Has a knockout, Bessie Smith-style, bluesy singing voice.

[SOFIA] –*ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED Character is female (cis or transgender), 30s - early 40s, African American. Powerful warrior woman. Knows how to use her sexuality, great sense of humor, touching, vulnerable. Married to Harpo, she does not let anyone mistreat her. Comic chops and a great belt singing voice.

[HARPO] –*ROLE HAS BEEN OFFERED Character is male (cis or transgender), 20s - 30s, African American. Mister’s vulnerable, confused, good-hearted son. Represents the new generation. He marries the independent Sofia. He spends much time trying to get Sofia to obey him the way Celie obeys his father, but he is unsuccessful, as Sofia is considerably stronger than he is. Harpo eventually establishes a juke joint in his first house and becomes Squeak’s lover. Later, he and Sofia reconcile. Through his love of Sofia, he learns how to love a woman. A great tenor singing voice.

[NETTIE] – Character is female (cis or transgender), 20s - 30s, African American. Adventuresome, feisty, educated. She has a powerful bond with her older sister, Celie. Forced by Mister to leave Celie, she starts a new life in Africa. Has a commanding presence with a great belt singing voice.

[JOSEPH] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 16-30, any ethnicity; high tenor, vocal range low A to High G. Eleventh son of Jacob. Obviously, his father’s favorite, Joseph early on shows a talent for interpreting dreams and telling the future. This gets him into trouble with his brothers when he predicts his future will include ruling over the other eleven. However, it saves his life when in Egypt he correctly interprets Pharaoh’s dreams. In the end, he has risen to a great position of power, but he still forgives his brothers and brings his family to Egypt to partake of the bounty he has accumulated there.

[NARRATOR] – Character is any gender, 20-35, any ethnicity; mezzo-soprano with extended mix/belt range, low F# to high G. The Narrator tells the story through word and song, guiding the audience gently through the story of Joseph and his brothers, usually giving meaning to the story with their words. Has excellent vocals and is invested in the storytelling.

[JACOB/POTIPHAR] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 40-60, any ethnicity; baritone, vocal range low D to B. Jacob: The father of twelve sons, his favorite being Joseph. At times he may appear unfair and shallow, but he is, more importantly, the prophet who recognizes the future and the calling of Joseph, thus saving the House of Israel. Potiphar: A powerful and rich Egyptian, Potiphar purchases Joseph and puts him to work in his household, where he soon realizes that Joseph is honest, hard-working, and a great addition to his pool of help. When he grows suspicious of Mrs. Potiphar and Joseph, however, he grows angry and has Joseph thrown into prison.

[PHARAOH/LEVI] – Character is male (cis or transgender), 20s – 30s, any ethnicity; baritone, low B to high G#. Pharaoh:Pharaoh is the most powerful man in Egypt, and considered a god on earth. Attractive. Elvis type who has a raw sexuality. Fun and moves well. Comfortable with 50s rock and roll vocal styles. Levi: Brother; Comfortable with a country-western vocal style.
