The CSO Pairs Chihuly and Bartók In The CHIHULY FESTIVAL: BLUEBEARD'S CASTLE

The Columbus Symphony fuses Bartók's iconic, opera thriller, Bluebeard's Castle, with celebrated visual artist Dale Chihuly to present the Chihuly Festival: Bluebeard's Castle. CSO Music Director Rossen Milanov, the musicians of the Columbus Symphony, and guest vocalists Nancy Maultsby and Mark Schnaible come together to perform this Bartók work inspired by the legend of Bluebeard. As the wealthy and powerful nobleman presents his castle to his new bride for the first time, each shadowy, new door reveals a mysterious secret from his past represented visually on stage by stunning Chihuly glass sculptures. The program also includes a performance of Strauss' Death and Transfiguration.

Carpenter will perform both works on the Ohio Theatre's powerful a?oeMighty Mortona?? theatre pipe organ, the first time the CSO has performed with the rare and magnificent instrument since 2004.

Returning for only its second year, The Columbus Symphony Cares About Kids Concert will feature Assistant Conductor Andrés Lopera leading the Columbus Symphony in a special performance to benefit the organization's educational initiatives. In addition to a spectacular program that includes works by Mozart, Falla, Copland, and Marquez, members of the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra will perform side-by-side with the orchestra in Liszt's Les Préludes. Proceeds from this special, one-night-only event will directly support the CSO's education programs that reached more than 23,000 children, teachers, and families in the 2018-19 season.

CAPA Launches CBUSArts

The Columbus Association for the Arts (CAPA), the non-profit performing arts organization that owns and operates the historic Ohio, Southern, and Palace Theatres as well as manages the Lincoln Theatre, McCoy Center for the Arts, and the Riffe Center Theatre Complex, has implemented a new ticketing and donation platform called CBUSArts. The new system serves as the official ticketing site for most events happening in CAPA venues as well as a user-friendly platform for donations.

CSO Music Director Rossen Milanov and the musicians of the Columbus Symphony present four such works from Russian composers including Prokofiev's Lieutenant Kije, Borodin's Polovtsian Dances, Rimski-Korsakov's The Golden Cockerel, and Tchaikovsky's unabridged 1812 Overture.

A Christmas Carol is a beloved holiday story. This production is the Art Council's charity event. Admission is 5 non perishable food items that will go to Hilliard Food Pantry or an unwrapped toy that will go to Firefighters for Kids or $5. After expenses have been subtracted from cash donations the rest of the money will also go to Hilliard Food Pantry. Performances are on Friday December 13th at 7pm and Saturday December 14th at 11am, 2pm and 7pm at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center, 5425 Center St, Hilliard, OH, 43026.
