Cleveland Orchestra’s Management and Musicians Announce Terms of New Trade Agreement

Management and Musicians of The Cleveland Orchestra have successfully concluded negotiations for a new three-year trade agreement effective September 3, 2012 through August 30, 2015. The agreement was ratified by the members of the Orchestra through a vote which took place over the weekend.

WVIZ/PBS ideastream® will broadcast the world premiere of The Cleveland Orchestra in Performance: Bruckner Symphony No. 4 on Monday, October 29, 2012, at 9:00 pm. Under the musical direction of Franz Welser-Most, the performance was filmed in 2012 at the beautiful 17th-century baroque Abbey of St. Florian in Austria. Emmy Award-winner Brian Large directed the video recording. This is the first video produced of the recent critical edition of the 1888 version of Bruckner's Fourth Symphony, edited by Benjamin Korstvedt and published in the Bruckner Collected Works edition (Vienna, 2004).

Great Lakes Theater (GLT), Cleveland's Classic Company, will present an extraordinary pre-show discussion and performance event exploring the healing power of the arts and the connections that have been discovered between art and medicine, in conjunction with the company's production of Moliere's classic The Imaginary Invalid, at the Hanna Theatre, PlayhouseSquare on Saturday, October 27th. Commencing at 6:15 p.m. with a pre-show discussion featuring experts in the disciplines of Art Therapy, Neurology, Holistic Coaching and Dance in the Hanna Theatre's Salon, the event will culminate with a performance of Great Lakes Theater's main stage production of The Imaginary Invalid at 7:30 p.m. as part of GLT's Classics and Conversations audience engagement series.
Cleveland Orchestra Performs Russian Concerts, 10/18-20

Pinchas Steinberg conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall concerts featuring music by three Russian masters. The main work on the program is Sergei Prokofiev's symphonic cantata drawn from his score for the 1938 film Alexander Nevsky. Mezzo-sopranoSasha Cooke makes her Cleveland Orchestra debut as soloist in the cantata. Also performing with the Orchestra in Alexander Nevsky is the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, prepared by Cleveland Orchestra Director of Choruses Robert Porco and Assistant Director of ChorusesLisa Wong. The concerts open with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Suite from Le Coq d'or ("The Golden Cockerel"), followed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Francesca da Rimini.

Fairmount Center for the Arts Faces Potential Closing

According to Cleveland.com, the Fairmount Center for the Arts might have to close due to a 'lack of funding.' An emergencey meeting will be held later this week, where the fate of the center will be discussed. In order for the Faimount Center to continue operations, $50,000 needs to be raised immediately.
