PlayhouseSquare Announces Fall for the Arts for Educators 10/26

By: Sep. 29, 2011

The Community Engagement & Education Department at PlayhouseSquare is hosting its annual "Fall for the Arts" evening of professional development for Northeast Ohio educators of grades Pre-K through 8 on Wednesday, October 26 from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Idea Center® at PlayhouseSquare (1375 Euclid Ave.). The registration fee is $10.

"We look forward to helping educators find new ways to integrate the arts into their classrooms," stated Colleen Porter, director of community engagement & education. "Arts integration captures student attention, increases understanding and provides a creative outlet in the classroom that is beneficial for both teachers and students."

This year's Fall for the Arts features a series of 60-minute workshops that provide educators with standards-based lesson plans and ideas to use in their classrooms. Topics include connecting the arts to literature, science, digital storytelling, and readers' theater. Local artists as well as WVIZ/PBS ideastream, Great Lakes Science Center, Shaker Lakes Nature Center and the Beck Center will present.

Fall for the Arts is appropriate for classroom teachers, arts specialists, administrators and teaching artists. Refreshments will be served. Information and registration is available online at www.playhousesquare.org/educators or by calling 216-348-7909.

PlayhouseSquare understands its vital role as an educator in our community, and is committed to providing arts learning opportunities of the highest quality to enrich the lives of students, families, teachers and adults.
