Hangar Theatre to Present Carole King, Joni Mitchell & Laura Nyro Tribute BACK TO THE GARDEN, 9/20-21

After completing its 39th Mainstage season, Hangar Theatre announces the fall performances of Back to the Garden, a musical tribute to folk-rock trailblazers Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and Laura Nyro, as a continuation of its annual CabarETC series playing September 20-21 at 8:00pm. Challenged by the traditional images of women in the music-industry, these prolific singer/songwriters paved the way for women in music, art, and life by bravely exploring territory outside the accepted confines of popular music. Back to the Garden celebrates these women, their influence and inspiration, directed by Amy Jones and featuring Melissa Hammans, Maddy Wyatt, and Shaleah Adkissonperforming with Julia Adamy (bass), Molly MacMillan(keys), with Barbara Merjan (drums), and Sue Terwilliger (guitar).

Cortland Repertory Theatre wraps up their 42nd annual summer season with the regional premiere of the thriller/comedy "I'll Be Back Before Midnight", by Peter Colley. This award-winning play has been described by the Toronto Globe & Mail as "the most widely produced stage play in Canadian history". It also has the distinction of having been produced in 48 of the 50 US states, every province in Canada and 29 countries around the globe including Mexico, Italy, China, Kenya, Spain, Ireland, Jamaica and Australia. It has broken numerous box office records and has had two record-breaking United Kingdom national tours.

Kitchen Theatre Company opens its 23rd Season with Tom Stoppard's award-winning translation of Heroes, a comedy by French playwright Gerald Sibleyras. Winner of the prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, Heroes begins previews on September 4th. Opening night is September 7th, and the play runs through September 22nd.

With every performance over the first 3 weeks either sold out already or certain to do so, Chenango River Theatre is extending the run of Ring of Fire, The Music of Johnny Cash by adding 4 more performances Sept. 5-8. By the end of the run, the show will have run 20 performances - the longest run in the company's history.

Written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Donald Margulies, this play promises to be a unique theatrical experience for young and old alike. Performances of this adventure tale will run from August 14 - 24 with evening performances at 7:30. Matinees are available on August 16, 18, and 21 at 2:00 PM.
