Don’t get me wrong. I’m pretty sure this virus won’t be going away for a LONG time. I’m an extreme pessimist though so it’s just nice to see someone that is more hopeful then others.

#FactsNotFear@WHO has NOT approved the use of chloroquine for #COVID19 management. Scientists are working hard to confirm the safety of several drugs for this disease.

In regards to the Tony's, my hope is that instead of awards, have it be a celebration of Broadway. Many of the shows can perform, highlight the tours and off Broadway productions as well. Celebrate those on the stage and behind the scenes, the seamstresses who are sewing masks for healthcare workers, the living room performances to benefit BCEFA & The Actor's Fund. This could also allow the casts of the shows that were forced to close permanently have the final bow they deserved instead of not knowing the last show they performed was their final bow. It will take time for Broadway to recover in full, however using the Tony's as a celebration may give people some additional hope and a needed distraction from the world.
You seem to be missing the point of The Tonys not happening. It's not only that shows can't open nor be seen, it's because it's a huge gathering of people. Unless the gathering restrictions are dramatically loosened in the next few weeks The Tonys will not be anything.

I appreciate the optimism...I really do. But sadly, as that commercial goes, that not how any of this works. When this will pass is determined by the actions we ALL take as individuals and our leaders (said loosely). Read the Imperial College report. Go look for anything from Fauci or any other expert in this matter, etc. We've been warned. We didn't heed it. And to not be realistic is as foolish as expecting the Tony's to go on within the next few months or things to be any kind of normal by then either. There's been reports Chloroquine isn't as effective as thought, or the Orange lied about that...real shocker, as the Orange has been nothing BUT lies. There are other drugs that would help immensely, but when the Orange turned down a **** ton of testing kits from Germany because he hates Merkel for whatever reason, does anyone expect him to do any good? Also keep in mind if we're not REALLY careful, a second wave could happen, and it would very likely be worse...that's from the aforementioned I.C. report which everyone needs to read and steel yourself for when you do.
Here's a useful link for each state and the graphs showing what could happen if certain action isn't taken by a certain time. NY's has already passed, but I really have no idea how much has been done throughout the state, since it's not a mandatory lockdown...yet.
Governor Cuomo in NY has also been extremely proactive at fighting this so I'm cautiously optimistic that things could be reopen by late Spring/early Summer. It will be interesting to see what types of crowd control measures are implemented by theaters. For example, maybe we will see more vendors walking around the theater instead of allowing for long queues at the bar and merch stands.
^^ He's been more proactive than many, but he just did a press appearance yesterday saying that he was in the city on Saturday and he saw people in parks and courts like nothing was going on...so...yeah. It's funny that different state leaders have taken the same action or lack thereof for different reasons. Cuomo is dragging his feet about calling for a mandatory lockdown to avoid authoritarian type measures (which I guess I can appreciate, because that is a worry of many), thinking closing everything non essential would encourage people to stay home, but it hasn't. While Stitt does the same in OK but because he thinks it not that serious...good grief.

Scott Gottlieb's a Republican and not realistic about the crisis...CUOMO is doing a great job in NYC.This probably won't peak in NYC for another 4-6 weeks then it will take another 4-6 weeks or so to level off with NO NEW CASES so I don't believe BWAY will open by late spring/early summer more likely > FALL-early winter,
as these theaters hold over 500 people (nobody is going to crowd themselves in a room together so quickly just to see a show-or will it be allowed) - What about the rest of the USA-just watch as those states-major cities will start to show increases in cases as well the next 2-6 weeks this is not ending this year! HANG IN THERE ALL - We are in this for the long run!
As of today- Monday: According to Cuomo, New York now has 20,875 positive coronavirus cases - 12,305 New York City alone.

Scott Gottlieb may be a Republican, but he has been consistently challenging this administration's approach and has also been promoting sound information constantly on his Twitter feed.

To be honest, I kinda agree. I do think that once we've crossed our peak (which is projected to be around late April-early May), and get on a steady decline of new cases, we'll see some of the restrictions start to loosen, and at least we can go back to living life semi-normally. But since Broadway theatres are such tight, compact spaces with lots of people crammed together, I actually think they're gonna be one of the later things to reopen.
I agree that we won’t be seeing shows until the fall. Regardless of what the federal government is saying, there’s no way Cuomo is going to allow gatherings of audiences for quite some time since this virus can easily reoccur.
And I'm hearing reports that state that 2 months of sequestering followed by a month of "normal" could be our long term reality through 2021.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

As someone sitting on April tickets, wish they would just announce an extension of the closure so I can get my refunds. Have already done that for plane tickets and hotel, I know the Hudson has been difficult about refunds so not holding my breath for them to do anything before they absolutely have to - has anyone had success in getting refunds for mid April shows just after the deadline has passed? It’s clearly not happening, but will they not do anything until the order is extended for insurance reasons?

I'm surprised they haven't just refunded tickets for any future date. This just creates more work and false expectations.

I feel like the shutdown will last longer for New York than for the rest of the country. Half the country's cases are in one state, and it's growing aggressively
"New York City area has an attack rate close to one in a thousand -- five times higher than what other areas are experiencing.
Some 28% of tests in New York are positive, she said -- compared to less than 8% in the rest of the country." - Dr. Deborah Birx
Yes, I totally agree Alex. NYC is so condensed and overpopulated, there really is no chance of not being exposed to this. I am glad I left temporarily two weeks ago, it's been tough but absolutely necessary.

Same. Sourced reports are especially important more than normal. Weirdly enough, my best friends called me last week saying I better get groceries this past weekend if I need them as some friends of hers work for the city told her a mandated lockdown was finally coming, but here we are on a Tuesday...

That. There's been too many experts saying that if we're not careful, this could easily have a second wave, and that wave would likely be worse...And the whole of NYS will absolutely feel this longer than everywhere else. The state has the biggest concentration but it was bound to happen that the city would have the biggest concentration of all.
I'm just really surprised the Broadway League hasn't announced that Broadway won't be reopening on April 13. That's three weeks away. Even the optimists(myself included) know we won't be over this for several months. Pro sports leagues(NBA, MLB, MLS) aren't eyeing a return until mid-to-late June. But they have the advantage of possibly playing in empty arenas while games get televised. Broadway doesn't have that luxury.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
It came from the Imperial College report - about how to start navigating based on number of cases in ICU. They aren't saying it would work like clockwork, but this isn't magically going to disappear, and it has to be managed for the long term. Regardless of what the cheeto-in-charge says.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
