I have to say I am not surprised. I enjoyed the show, maybe not as much as others. But the night I saw it the energy levels were low. Just not what I was expecting. On Your Feet had much better energy.

Cher the Goddess deserves something better than this.

I'm not surprised either.  SJB was great.  The costumes were aldo great and the cast did the best the could with a mediocre book.

I needed a kick in the rear to finally see this. I should be able to make it over sometime in July in between some off-Broadway stuff. Hopefully they finish strong and get in similar audience members who didn't feel a sense of urgency until now.

Huh?  Guess the washed queens couldn't keep the show open!

A 9-month run in New York (10, if you count previews) isn't too shabby and the show will probably last for a while on tour or in a revised version in Las Vegas.

I always thought the show had a couple of things going against it.  Most jukebox musicals are built around artists who write their own material or catalogs by particular authors.  There's an inherent focus to that which lends itself more to the storytelling of a show, and 'The Cher Show' didn't have that.  Also, Cher herself is a polarizing performer.  Many people consider her too over-the-top or 'campy' to offer much appeal.  You either love her or you;re not interested, so there's very little middle ground.  I think this show had a respectable run.

I'm glad Stephanie gets to move on from this show, happy for her winning the Tony.

I thought the show would be a solid choice among summer tourists.  Seems not, unfortunately.  Still, a fun show that finally brought Stephanie J. Block her long-deserved Tony.

Its really sad!

I enjoyed for what it was, a fun and very entertaining night of Theater with a GLORIOS leading turn by Stephanie J. Block, glad she won The Tony.

I wasnt expecting this to close this soon but It wouldnt last past New Years anyway. At least it ran a good amount of months!

It was one of the highlights of my trip and much better than any other jukebox musical I’ve seen .

It's interesting that they're still selling tickets through Oct. 13(via Ticketmaster).

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I don't wanna be 'that guy', but I think the problem is that Cher REALLY is not the 'legend' everyone thinks she is.

Outside of the gheys (of which I am one) I think the reaction to her from the general public is a pretty massive meh.

Yes she's been around for donkeys years, but really c'mon apart from her sometimes explosive private life her movie and music career is not particularly memorable apart from a few very select moments.

Like most of these jukebox things, once her 'key' demographic has seen it, no one else really cares.

Plus it sounds like SHE herself ruined it.

Maybe it would have run longer if she were dead. Face it it was a glitzy Las Vegas Show. A fun evening but no appeal if you weren’t a Cher fan.

It's confusing and it starts with the damn title. Both in Chicago and NYC, many people thought it was a Cher concert. The box office staff noted this and in both cities I was speaking to people INSIDE the theatre who thought they were going to see Cher. They never marketed this show correctly. If Cher were dead (which is when this show should have been launched) this wouldn't be an issue.

In terms of my previous comment, if they wanted the show to appeal to more tourists they needed to pepper it with more hits. I enjoyed the show's gravity in Chicago. It was pretty clear that once Cher saw it, she needed to rip the spine out of it and add more tacky including that tacked on "Mamma Mia" ending that was really important to her. You can't have it both ways. With the changes for Broadway, they should have gone full theme park. The people there were the Mamma Mia "ladies night" crowds and they aren't interested in "When The Moneys Gone" or "Song For The Lonely."

I loved the show but I agree. Musically, other than a few numbers, it was weak because the songs were just okay. It's  not like Beautiful or Ain't Too Proud where every song is a huge crowd-pleaser.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Donna Summer has been dead for seven years and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical only ran for 289 performances. The Cher Show will eclipse that number by exactly seven. Perhaps, as others have said, if the living breathing Cher had been more involved in the show's promotion, it  might have appealed to  those outside of her orbit.

As a Cher fan who bathes semi-regularly, I enjoyed the show but didn't love it. Had it not been about Cher but about someone like her, I might have enjoyed it more. One reason why I loved The Rose is because I didn't take any issues with the fictional tellling of the life of Janis Joplin.

Actually maybe I misspoke-cut out the lesser songs and give fuller renditions of the hits. Cut Living In A House Divided, Money's Gone, Song For The Lonely, All I Ever Need, Ain't Nobody's Business.

I am so disappointed. I was to see this on Saturday but I had to cancel my trip.

I mostly follow the board and I noticed this didn't have the interest I expected. I loved the idea of the variety show.

I know Cher is polarising but I thought the show would survive on her Gay Icon status.

I guess there's no chance of a West End transfer now? Maybe she'd have more success here, 'Girls Night Out' genre of theatre is more popular in the West End in my opinion.

Anyway thanks to ticketmaster for refunding and I get to see the woman herself on tour in Europe later in the year.

EDIT: A few have mentioned the terrible tony performance but I cannot find any YouTube videos of any of this years tony performances? I know i'm in UK but there seems to be none not that they are restricted.
