I'm very excited for Tootsie. I can't wait to see what David Yazbek does with it and I've been a Santino Fontana fan for a long time and I think this is going to be a huge moment for him!
If I can catch them, King Lear with Glenda Jackson and Network. I also could use an effervescent Crazy for You, if it happens. (And I'm sure I'll enjoy Kiss Me Kate) Surprisingly enough, no new American shows have really caught my eye, but I'm hoping that Moulin Rouge comes in this season, and that Dave, Tootsie, and/or The Prom really are good. ...oh and Ain't Too Proud to Beg, probably and I'm piqued about Hadestown.
I'm intrigued by The Nap as I love One Man, Two Guv'nors. Ditto The Ferryman because of my love of Jerusalem (but, oof, The River). I'm excited to see Elaine May on stage in The Waverly Gallery. I loved Choir Boy off-Broadway and am interested in seeing it again. But the only shows I'm unreserved in my excitement for are Kiss Me, Kate and Network. Out of the new musicals, I'm keeping fingers tightly crossed that The Prom ends up being a charmer. I'm not particularly optimistic about the rest, thought I'd love to be proven wrong. AND I'd love for there to be some more exciting shows announced for Spring. It's killing me that we still don't know what's going into the Winter Garden. :)
I know someone who was in JLP and he says he’s only heard rumors of spring 2019, but nothing is solidified. The cast is basically waiting on pins and needles to hear something. If that transfers, I’ll be pretty happy.
I’m not such why everyone expects Kong to flop, but I’m actually looking forward to that one too
SO excited for The Waverly Gallery and True West because they’re solid combinations of great writers and great talent. I’m also intrigued by the staging of Network, as it looks to be more creative than standard sit-and-stare theater. As for Broadway musicals...like everyone said this season kind of looks like a nightmare save for a couple. If Moulin Rouge! and Hadestown transfer this season, then I’ll be properly excited. Off-Broadway seems to have an excellent slate of musicals, however: Girl from the North Country, Superhero, Oklahoma!, and Octet are on my list.
