Kitt is writing music and lyrics. Dilella from NY1 did a piece on this last summer up at the O’Neill Center in Connecticut where it had staged readings with Kelli O’Hara and James Snyder.
I too was wondering about the delay but my tickets were emailed to me yesterday. It will be my 4th time (3rd with Bette) and I am super excited. I just adore this show.
Take the Pope hat off Olaf and definitely give him more to do. The Duke of Weselton (Robert Creighton) was underused. I thought for sure I would have seen more tap coming from Creighton.
Book writer Diablo Cody says “Often you’re trying to shoehorn the artist’s hit songs into a narrative. I never once felt like that. The songs are really of a piece. There is this coherent theme on the album of: Wake up, look around, accept things that are painful, grow. Don’t live your life in denial.”
Really loved this concert. I agree the best one by far this season. Her closing number Something Beautiful by Ahrens and Flaherty was breathtaking. I had never heard the song before. Will definitely look to listen to her recording now.
I was disappointed but I don’t regret seeing it. So many classic songs that I was familiar with but had never seen the show. I was definitely thinking of Barbara Cook when listening to Lindsay sing Mr. Snow. Lindsay sang it well but it was nice to fondly remember Barbara. I miss her.
We saw the matinee today as well and we were not impressed. The choreography felt messy to me. No chemistry and the sets were not good. Disappointed. Fleming did a good job with You Will Never Walk Alone.
Rigg received the best featured actress in a musical nomination and I think Patti Murin did way more work to earn that same nomination. I love Rigg but she really isn't doing much.
And before 3pm the hoards of tickets listed have the non-electronic ticket designation of “pick-up” so I think the producers of the show are now setting aside a % of tickets to sell on Stubhub at triple and quadruple the price. When they don’t sell by 3pm they are removed and probably made available to TKTS.
I paid $45 for the T shirt. They offered a discount of $10 off the $25 program if I purchased the program with the T shirt. The blue hoodie sweatshirt is $65.
Fun to watch the red carpet show on Facebook live right now. Just caught Marianne Elliott and Patti Lupone interviewed by Frank Dilella about their upcoming collaboration on Company. Interesting.
I thought Newell was the weakest of the men in the show, so it's annoying to me that he's getting all of the Tony talk. Phillip Boykin, Isaac Powell, and Quentin Earl Darrington all had superior performances, imo. (Especially Boykin.)
i completely agree with you Judy Denmark. I will be rooting for Boykin.
