Baltimore Shakespeare Factory Presents CYMBELINE

The Hampden-based Baltimore Shakespeare Factory will open their 2019 season with Cymbeline. Set in ancient Britain, Cymbeline is among Shakespeare's final triumphs. Masterfully blending comedy, tragedy, romance, and adventure-and featuring one of the early modern stage's greatest female leads-Cymbeline (like its contemporary The Winter's Tale) considers the implications of jealousy run wild, and the healing powers of pardon and forgiveness.

Drama Learning Center's professional training company for emerging young artists will present A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder later this month. A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder is an uproarious comedic romp filled with witty, scene-stealing musical laughs. The musical hit was the most-nominated show of the 2014 season with ten TONY Award nominations (including four wins), seven Drama Desk Awards, four Outer Critics Circle Awards, and a Drama League Award.

Mary Kay Sigaty, former Howard County Council member, artist, teacher, and active supporter of numerous community and charitable organizations in Howard County, will act as Honorary Chair for the evening. Adventure Collaborates With Black Community For Huckleberry Finn's BIG RIVER

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of a Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Play or Musical Adaptation, takes a mighty leap down the Mississippi River with Huckleberry Finn's Big River, revised from Tony Award winning musical Big River, adapted from the classic Mark Twain book. With the support of over 100 consensus organizers (individuals and organizations serving the black community), this revision uses the original music and lyrics by Roger Miller with new arrangements and orchestrations by William Yanesh. Additionally, this revision, expands the role of Jim, now the same age as Huckleberry, and removes offensive language.

The National Philharmonic rings in the new year-and continues its celebration of the great Leonard Bernstein's Centennial-with two of Bernstein's favorite composers in "Infamous Brahms" Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at 3 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore's Concert Hall. International pianist Haochen Zhang, who won the gold medal for the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition at the age of 19, will join Philharmonic Music Director and Conductor Piotr Gajewski in performing Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in E minor. Both Zhang and Gajewski are former child prodigies. Zhang has captivated audiences in the United States, Europe, and Asia with a unique combination of deep musical sensitivity, fearless imagination, and spectacular virtuosity. During the weekend's concerts, the National Philharmonic will also celebrate Maestro Gajewski's 60th birthday. There will be a pre-concert lecture on Saturday, from 6:45-7:15 p.m., and Sunday, from 1:45-2:15 p.m. Ticket prices are $34-$88 and are free for young people age 7-17. When Beatriz slams into her room to escape a fight with her parents, she turns to Beatrizita, a doll made for her by her recently deceased abuela, for comfort. Beatrizita magically comes to life and sends Beatriz searching for her abuela in Dreamland with nothing but a blank map to guide her. A wondrous adventure begins and along the way she discovers regalitos (little gifts) that her abuela's kindness instilled within her.

But as the case goes on, Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corporation, but also with her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire.
