Connie and Tristan are test subjects in a clinical trial for a new antidepressant in development. Their immediate and fevered love ends up risking the integrity of the trial while they wrangle with the very origin and nature of their feelings. Are they truly meant for each other, or is it just the effect of some drug?

by BWW News Desk - January 25, 2019
Rep Stage, the professional regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 26th season with "Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992," written by Anna Deavere Smith and directed by Paige Hernandez. Anna Deavere Smith's stunning play explores the people who experienced the Los Angeles riots and the devastating human impact of that event. From nine months of interviews with more than 200 people, Smith chose voices that best reflect the diversity and tension of a city in turmoil, all portrayed by one actress in a tour-de-force performance. A work that goes directly to the heart of the issues of race and class, "Twilight" ruthlessly probes the language and the lives of its subjects, offering stark insight into the complex and pressing social, economic, and political issues that fueled the flames in the wake of the Rodney King verdict.

BWW Review: CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY at The Hippodrome Delivers a World of Pure Imagination
by Kristen Price - January 23, 2019
As the Candy Man himself said, "come with me, and you'll see a world of pure imagination." It seems the writers and creatives behind CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY playing at the Hippodrome took this phrase to heart. On the basis of pure creativity and theatre magic, this show is a hit for young and old. These days, it's fun to have at least a singular moment of "I don't know how they managed to do that", however in this show particularly from the magic of a soaring paper airplane, to a child gobbled into a television set, there are many of these moments of amazement. And I'm sure the numerous children in the audience were completely taken by the sheer wonder of it.

BWW Review: A Rewarding and Ambitious JERUSALEM at Fells Point Corner Theatre
by Jack L. B. Gohn - January 20, 2019
Even though sometimes funny, even to the extent of farce, and filled with a manic vitality, Jerusalem is not easy theater, but it is infinitely rewarding. It will be surely be one of the most ambitious shows local audiences see in this new year.
Photo Flash: First Look at FPCT's JERUSALEM
by BWW News Desk - January 18, 2019
St. George's Day in England, the Morning of the county fair, the local drifting soul and pied piper of chaos Johnny "Rooster" Byron stirs the souls of his countrymen to forego the comforts of modern suburban life and raise their spirits in the countryside. His family want to spend the day with him, thugs want to teach him a lesson, the authorities want rid of him, but Rooster just wants more out of life. Having played on the West End and then to Broadway (and back to the West End), Jerusalem is a darkly comic and modern meditation on the spirit of a nation.
