Highwood Theatre to Present AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY

The Highwood Theatre aims to engage the community in an open dialogue about mental health issues through the medium of performing arts. Its upcoming student production of A?ugust: Osage County, ?the 2008 Pulitzer Prize winning drama by Tracy Letts, e?xplores difficult topics such as depression, addiction, fidelity, abuse and suicide. The show follows the interactions of the dysfunctional Weston family, specifically the drug­addicted, emotionally­tattered matriarch Violet and her relationship with her three daughters following the disappearance of her husband. Although not a typical choice for student productions, Highwood is providing the cast of high school actors with the necessary tools to address the mature themes in the play.

Everyman Theatre will receive a congratulatory resolution from Baltimore City Councilman William "Pete" Welch for the company's work on its current production of Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Ruined. The cast and staff will receive the resolution from the Councilman on Wednesday, March 4th at 1:30PM at the theatre in the second floor lobby.

Children's Playhouse of MD (CPM), in residence at CCBC Essex, will present Disney's My Son Pinocchio, Jr. on weekends, March 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 1 p.m. in the Administration Building at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. There is an additional 4 p.m. show on March 15. The March 21 will be sign language interpreted by students of the CCBC Catonsville American Sign Language Certification program. Show tickets are $10. Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts with their original location, Cohesion Theatre Company's production of 13 Dead Husbands by Tom Horan will now be performing at the Church on the Square at 1025 South Potomac Avenue in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore. The dates and times of the production will remain the same, though the location is changing. Cohesion is excited to partner with the team at the Church on the Square to further their mission of community and artistic outreach, while expanding Cohesion's audiences to include the neighborhood of Canton.

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the Frederick-area's only year-round producing theatre, will welcome the return of a classic musical that holds a special place in the hearts of theatergoers. Fiddler on the Roof first appeared on the Way Off Broadway stage during the 2006 Season. That production broke box office records for the theatre and to this day, audiences still ask when the show will return. Beginning on Friday, March 13th, Fiddler on the Roof will make its return to Way Off Broadway with a new staging for the spring.
