Inspired by Neil Simon's early career experience as a junior writer for Your Show of Shows, the play focuses on Sid Caesar-like Max Prince, the star of a weekly comedy-variety show circa 1953, and his staff, including Simon's alter-ego Lucas Brinkman, who maintains a running commentary on the writing, fighting, and wacky antics which take place in the writer's room.

Howard Community College's (HCC) Arts Collective (AC) continues its 22nd season with "A Valentine Affair" on February 10 and 11, 2017. AC lights a match to this Valentine's Season with two distinctively different back-to-back shows, "Love is…?" and "Love Synchs!" presented by AC's popular improv troupe, "What Improv Group?!?!" (W.I.G), Humanities Department, and the Howard County Poetry and Literature Society (HoCoPoLitSo). Both shows feature W.I.G.'s ground-breaking, edgy take on improvisation, complete with audience participation.

American composer and pianist Martin Hennessy will debut his new opera, a musical adaption of Oscar Wilde's 'The Young King,' in a staged reading on February 10, 2017 at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland. The son to a family of goat herders, a young boy is found to be heir to the kingdom. Riches and luxury are laid at his feet, but at what cost are they to others? The opera addresses universal questions of wealth and income inequality.

'Out of Sterno' begins with meeting Dotty (Nora Thomas), the 23 year old heroine of the play. She is peppy and funny, and expresses her positive slant on everything in her very small world. She also lets us know that her husband, Hamel (Rafael Medina) won't let her leave their apartment, but that she is fine with that. She spends her days working on art projects and watching video recordings of the day she met her husband, 7 years earlier.
Balt Shakespeare Factory Opens 2017 Season with Historic ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA

Baltimore Shakespeare Factory (BSF), working closely with world-renowned dialect and original pronunciation (OP) expert Paul Meier, will open its 2017 season with an historic production of Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra, March 31 through April 23 at The Great Hall at St. Mary's Community Center. BSF's presentation will be the very first time that modern audiences will be able to hear Antony and Cleopatra spoken the way Shakespeare's audiences would have heard it when it was first performed in the early 1600s.
M. BUTTERFLY to Open Everyman Theatre's 2017/18 Season

Everyman Theatre has announced today that it will open its upcoming 2017/2018 season with David Henry Hwang's Pulitzer Prize-nominated drama M. Butterfly. The production will star Everyman Theatre Resident Company Member Bruce Randolph Nelson as French diplomat Rene Gallimard. This complex story about love and illusion follows the secretive romance between the married diplomat and a mysterious Chinese opera singer, Song Liling.

Everyman Theatre brings Charles Dickens' classic novel to the stage in a dynamic adaptation by Gale Childs Daly. Hailed as "tight and suspenseful" by the Chicago Tribune, Daly's adaptation of Great Expectations masterfully condenses Dickens 500-page novel into a high-spirited play where only six actors portray more than 35 characters. The show is currently in rehearsal and runs from February 1 through March 5, 2017.

Richard Sautter, adjunct lecturer in theatre arts at McDaniel College, performs his one-man show, "12 Steps," on Saturday, Feb. 11, 7:30 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. An informal question-and-answer session with Sautter will take place following the show. The performance, which runs approximately 50 min., is free and open to the public. (Note: the show is suggested for ages 14 and over.)
