TRIBUTE Coming to The Greenbelt Arts Center This Month

Coming to Greenbelt Arts Center on April 21 is TRIBUTE by Bernard Slade, directed by Gayle Negri.

Scottie Templeton's a charming, irresponsible fellow. A sometime Broadway press agent and former scriptwriter, he's everyone's friend, nobody's hero and a great womanizer who's managed to live over fifty years without taking anything seriously including love, marriage, and fatherhood. Life has been one continuous gag. But at fifty-one, he finds the script's been rewritten as a tragedy. His son Jud, alienated by years of neglect, comes to visit. Scottie's one concern is to make friends with his son, for everyone else adores Scottie including his ex-wife, his friend and boss, and his doctor. Tribute is a warm, funny, touching play with wonderful characters.

Scottie Templeton - Larry LaRose
Lou Daniels - Bob Kleinberg
Jud Templeton - Carlo Olivi
Maggie Stratton - Barbara Lambert
Dr. Gladys Petrelli - Edye Smith
Sally Haines - Elizabeth Dapo
Hilary - Mary Rogers

DIRECTOR'S NOTE: I fell in love with Tribute I saw it in 1983. It's a wonderful story about love and relationships and loyalty and how we all deal with unexpected things that come into our lives. Scottie has to learn to depend on the people he always thought of as audience and that realization makes for a touching journey with both family and friends. Reaching out to the world can be scary, sometimes, but once in a while we need to get out of our comfort zones. I'm so pleased to have the opportunity to share it with you now. Please enjoy Tribute. Gayle Negri - Director

The show will play Fridays and Saturdays, April 21, 22, 28, 29, May 5, 6, 12, 13 at 8:00pm and Sunday Matinees April 30 & May 7 at 2:00pm. Ticket prices: Adults $22; Senior/Student/Military $20; and Youth $12.
