Arsenic and Old Lace
by Joseph Kesselring

Directed by Jen Sizer

Produced by Maureen Rogers.

The play takes place in the 1930s in the home of spinster sisters, Martha and Abby Brewster. The pair is well known throughout their neighborhood as generous "do-gooders." They care for their nephew Teddy, who believes he is President Theodore Roosevelt, and look after their poor and sick neighbors.

On a visit to the home, Teddy's brother Mortimer, a theater reviewer, makes a horrifying discovery that he immediately blames on Teddy. He informs the aunts that Teddy must be taken to a sanitarium as soon as possible. In the meantime, he struggles to keep the information from his fianceé Elaine and her father, the Reverend Dr. Harper.

Into this mix sneak some unwelcome visitors, Mortimer and Teddy's long forgotten criminal brother, his personal plastic surgeon and a dead body. It falls on Mortimer to get rid of his brothers and keep his aunts out of harm's way. The outcome is one of Broadway comedy's most hilarious.
