The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is currently accepting applications for Assistant Camp Director (paid),Camp Assistants (paid), and Camp Volunteers (unpaid) for its 2018 Visual and Performing Arts Summer Camp. Duties of the Assistant Camp Director include supervision of Camp Assistants and Volunteers; maintenance of camp-related paperwork such as classroom rosters, supply budgets, sign-in sheets, schedules, and incident reports; maintenance of health and safety procedures in compliance with Maryland Camp Certification standards and HCAC policy; and serving as Interim Camp Director in the absence of the Camp Director. Candidates must have experience working with children ages 4 and up and must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to be certified.
Responsibilities of the Assistant and Volunteer positions include supervising campers in art-related activities as directed by the classroom instructor; monitoring campers during breaks, lunch times, etc.; and preparing classrooms and materials for the day's activities. At least one Assistant or Volunteer is assigned to each class. Assistants must be aged 18 by June 15, 2018; Volunteers must be aged 15 by September 1, 2018.
Camps are offered June 25 - August 24 from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm; before- and after-care are offered from 8:00 - 9:00 am and 3:30 - 6:00 pm, respectively. Assistant Camp Director hours are 10:00 am- 6:00 pm Monday through Friday (camp day plus two hours of after-care), a maximum of 40 hours per week. Hours for Assistants and Volunteers vary; however, Assistants must be able to work a full day (8:45 am - 3:45 pm) and commit to at least one full camp session. Application deadline is March 30, 2018.
