EMP Collective is kicking open the doors to their new downtown arts venue, EMP! EMP will open on October 7th at 7pm to Nolan Cartwright's exhibition, Fuck Doing Shit (FDS). $5, all ages. FDS will run at EMP through the month of October 2011.
FDS is a visual arts show and installation piece with formalistic forays descending into back room nihilism. FDS will answer all of the audiences' existential questions! FDS will reveal an unknown piece of consciousness you! Will make you reflect upon current affairs with a previously unrealized sociohistorical perspective! Will deliver the meaning of life and reveal God to... eh screw it.
There is no metaphor. There is no meaning.
FDS.

ABOUT OUR NEW SPACE
EMP Collective hopes to nourish emerging artists with its new space at 306 W Redwood, in the forgotten Loft District. Funded by the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore's Operation Storefront grant, this multi-use arts venue is comprised of a rotating art gallery for developing artists that doubles as a rehearsal / performance space for theatrical and musical events, experimental collaboration, workshops, and film screenings. Around the corner from the Hippodrome, right off of the Baltimore St/UMD Light Rail stop, EMP hopes to be part of the revitalization of a neighborhood just blocks away from the Inner Harbor and Mount Vernon.
ABOUT EMP COLLECTIVE
Founded in 2010, EMP Collective is a nonprofit dedicated to creating and producing multi-media events by collaborating with artists from all backgrounds, across disciplines. EMP Collective's inaugural devised multimedia show, WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!, debuted in Baltimore's Station North Arts district in January 2010. Revolving around apocalyptic themes, WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! showcased EMP Collective's "deadpan but curveball sense of humor." (Baltimore City Paper) through the collaborative work of writers, dancers, filmmakers, musicians, actors, and visual artists. Earlier this year, EMP Collective presented its second collaboration, (...and you're just not good enough), which shamelessly explored Washington DC's shared experiences of rejection and humiliation.
