Audra McDonald' recently released her first solo album in seven years, Go Back Home, and just launched a concert tour across North America, which kicked off with a performance at the Midland Center for the Arts in Midland, MI, on June 8. Today in 1986, Arsenic and Old Lace opened at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rogers Theatre) where it ran for 221 performances. Arsenic and Old Lace is a play by American playwright Joseph Kesselring, written in 1939. It has become best known through the film adaptation starring Cary Grant and directed by Frank Capra. The play is a farcical black comedy revolving around Mortimer Brewster, a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and local police in Brooklyn, NY, as he debates whether to go through with his recent promise to marry the woman he loves.

The Muny is currently presenting its second show of its fantastic 95th Season, Dreamworks Shrek The Musical, directed by John Tartaglia and choreographed by Vince Pesce. Stephen Wallem joins Julia Murney who plays Princess Fiona, Rob McClure as Lord Farquaad, Michael James Scott as Donkey, and Natalie Venetia Belcon as Dragon. This is director John Tartaglia's Muny directorial debut, after his critically-acclaimed performance as the Genie in last year's production of Disney's Aladdin. Actor singer, and songwriter Cheyenne Jackson ("Behind The Candelabra," "30 Rock," "Glee") has released "I'm Blue, Skies", his first full-length album of original music on June 25, 2013. Produced by Thomas "Tawgs" Salter and The ELEV3N, the album was co-written by Mr. Jackson with SIA, Stevie Aiello, Chris Braide, and Charlotte Sometimes. The second video from the album was just released- 'She's Pretty, She Lies,' which was a collaboration with SIA. Check it out below!

Happy Birthday, Hunter Foster! Foster is perhaps best known for playing 'Bobby Strong' in Urinetown, for which he received nominations for an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Lucille Lortel Award. In 2003, Foster starred as 'Seymour' in the Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, for which he received his first Tony Award nomination. Foster also appeared as 'Leo Bloom' in The Producers on Broadway, 'Ensign Pulver' in Mister Roberts at the Kennedy Center, 'Ben' in Modern Orthodox off-Broadway, and 'Sam Phillips' in Million Dollar Quartet.

MONKEY: JOURNEY TO THE WEST, an extraordinary music-theater collaboration based on the classic Chinese folktale 'Journey to the West' from 1592, will open the 2013 Lincoln Center Festival, playing 27 performances throughout the festival from July 6 - 28 in the David H. Koch Theater. MONKEY: JOURNEY TO THE WEST is conceived and directed by internationally renowned opera and film director Chen Shi-Zheng, with music by Damon Albarn, lead singer of Blur, and design and animation by award-winning artistJamie Hewlett, who, with Albarn, created the virtual band Gorillaz.
