Georgia Ensemble Theatre & Conservatory To Teach Theatre In China Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company and conservatory has been invited to participate in a cultural exchange with China to teach drama to children in the city of Hangzhou, Hunan Province. And, as a second part of the exchange, 20 five-year olds and their families from China will travel to Roswell this summer to participate in a week of GET's Conservatory summer theatre camp.

The Atlanta International Culture Exchange has chosen GET's Conservatory and Education Department for this honor due to their track record of excellence in teaching children and teens over the past 25 years.

Education Director Laurel Crowe, Education Manager Michael Vine and conservatory teaching artist Jessica De Maria will be going to China at the end of March for twelve days. They'll engage in a combination of observing, presenting their skills-training processes to the Chinese families and then teaching workshops with the children. According to Ms. Crowe, "The Chinese participants in this exchange are very excited about learning how Americans teach drama and acting. They came to us specifically because of our process-based teaching and our focus on fundamentals in developing artists' to the best of their potential."

While the Atlanta International Cultural Exchange has partnered with other schools (Georgia Tech, Killian Hill Christian School, Brandon Hall), this is the first partnership with a professional theatre and conservatory aimed at teaching Chinese children drama and music.

Once the education team from Georgia Ensemble returns from China, they will start preparing for their many summer theatre camps starting in June and running all summer. The second part of this cultural exchange will bring 20 five-year old Chinese children and their families to visit GET in Roswell where they will participate alongside American students in a one-week Mash Up Madness summer camp.

Education Manager Michael Vine added, "This is an exciting opportunity for all involved and we hope that going forward we can participate in more programs like this. We're honored to be chosen to be a part of this exchange."
