Unframed at New Stage Theatre Presents BOY

The Unframed at New Stage Theatre Series presents BOY by Anna Ziegler March 22,23,24, 25 at 7:30pm and March 24 at 2:00pm. Ticket price is $10.00 and tickets can only be purchased at the door, cash or check only. Inspired by a true story, BOY explores the complicated terrain of trying to find love in a new body, and the inextricable bonds between doctor and patient. In the 1960s, a well-intentioned doctor convinces the parents of a male infant to raise their son as a girl after a terrible accident. Two decades later, the repercussions of that choice continue to unfold.

"I was instantly drawn to BOY" says director, Brianna Nicole Hill. "Anna Ziegler does a great job creating relationships that we sympathize with and want to fight for. This play can easily incite a conversation about the lengths people go in the name of science." Michael Glitz, Huffington Post, wrote "A great play... Boy has both the white hot issue of gender identity and the simple fact that it's very, very good in its favor. Ziegler's intelligent script lays out this complex story with precision and grace."

The cast features Sam Furman as Adam/ Samantha, Kate Woodley as Jenny, Richard Lawrence as Dr. Wendell Barnes, Wendie Sheppard as Trudy Turner, and Chris Roebuck as Doug Turner.

BOY is the third production of the 11th season of Unframed at New Stage Theatre. The final production in the Unframed series is Find Me by Olwen Wymark (May 4, 5 & 6, 2018).

"We created The Unframed Series at New Stage Theatre series in 2006 to provide an alternative theatre experience to the community", said Reynolds. "The goal of the Series is to attract theatre audiences that are interested in contemporary theatre. I am very proud of the shows that the Series has produced in the last ten years."

BOY opens Thursday, March 22nd at 7:30 pm. Additional performances are Friday, March 23rd, Saturday, March 24th, Sunday, March 25th at 7:30pm and Saturday, March 24th at 2:00pm.
