Stewart F. Lane a six-time Tony award, winning producer with, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder currently running on Broadway sat down with Peter LeDonne and Jamie deRoy at Patsy's Italian Restaurant to discuss his new book "Black Broadway: African Americans on The Great White Way".
Black Broadway chronicles the journey of black theatre in America, alongside a running timeline of African-American history.
In addition to his six Tony Awards Mr. Lane has accumulated an additional eight Tony nominations for his Broadway Productions. He has been nominated for and received numerous other industry awards including four Drama desk Awards, a Drama Critics Circle Award, Outer Circle Critics Award, and a Drama League Award. In 2013 he won his first Olivier Award in London's West End for Irving Berlin's Top Hat. Mr. Lane is President and Chief Executive Officer of Stellar Productions International, Inc. and Stewart F. Lane Productions, Inc. Stewart is co-owner and operator of the legendary Palace Theatre on Broadway with the Nederlander Organization and a partner in the Tribeca Grill with Robert De Niro.
In 2013 Mr. Lane and his wife Bonnie Comley founded BroadwayHD, which brings Broadway to the big screen allowing everyone to experience the theatre in a way that has never been done. He is also a distinguished author and his brand new book "Black Broadway" is wonderfully entertaining, informative and important.
