Jenna Leigh Green to Host May 8 Monday Nights, New Voices
On May 8th, the acclaimed "Monday Nights, New Voices" series--which
showcases rising Broadway talents--will continue at The Duplex Cabaret
Theatre. The 7 PM concert at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre will feature Jersey Boys' Sara Schmidt, Lestat's Nikki Renee Daniels, Lauren Thomas, Zakiya Young and Wicked's Kathy Deitch. The five comprised the first cast of the series; January of 2006 marked a year since "Monday Nights"' debut. Hosting the evening will be Wicked's Jenna Leigh Green, with five special guest composers to be announced. Although "Monday Nights, New Voices" usually features an established composer alongside an up-and-coming one, the May 8th show will showcase five new musical theatre writers.
"Last month marked a year since composer Scott Alan set out to produce the monthly series that showcases up and coming talent at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre and teams them with established and up and coming composers in a one night only event. In the year since its debut, many of todays most acclaimed Broadway stars and composers have joined together to honor the New Voices for there exciting achievments and to celebrate their exciting future," state press notes. "The show has gone on to see many of its performers star on Broadway, touring productions and off-Broadway." The May 8th evening will be musically directed by Barbara Anselmi.
