Harris Center Announces St. Patrick's Day Celebration!

On the heels of three sold-out events last December at Harris Center, the producer of An Irish Christmas - arguably the pre-eminent promoter of Irish music and culture on the West Coast - offers Folsom an authentic St. Patrick's Day celebration, with "rip-roaring music, song, and dance....a great Irish night" (Irish News & Entertainment).

Direct from Kerry Irish Productions Inc. - which is now virtually a household name in Folsom - comes this treat for the whole family, featuring champion dancer Connor Reider (The Chieftains; Celtic Fyre), plus the Kerry Voice Squad and Traditional Band. Together, they'll transport you to the Emerald Isle two short days before St. Patrick's Day; you'll leave Harris Center with a jig in your step.

St. Patrick's Day in Ireland unfolds on Stage One on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $18-$33; Premium $42, Students with ID $12. Tickets are available online at www.harriscenter.net or from the Harris Center Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from noon to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time. Parking permits are issued at the time of ticket purchase. The Harris Center is located on the west side of the Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.

A celebration of St. Patrick's Day and the great joys of being Irish, the March 15 concert will be led by members of The Kerry Traditional Band: four multi-instrumentalists who share their passion for the traditional music of Ireland with fiddles, uilleann pipes, banjo, Bodhrán, guitar, and flutes. The band is led by Jackie Moran (Bodhrán, banjo, vocals), a go-to Bodhrán virtuoso for Irish musicians the world over. He has performed with Alphonso Ponticelli, Kevin Burke, Dennis Cahill, Liz Carroll, Martin Hayes, David Munnelly and too many others to mention here - and you've probably seen him in the movies. When Hollywood needs a musician to play the part (and to look it as well), you'll see Jackie in such popular films as "Backdraft" (1991), "Blink" (1993), "Traveler" (1997) and "The Road to Perdition" (2002), all of which saw fit to feature Jackie and his Bodhrán.

To this potent mix, add Irish dance led by Keara Osborne, a member of fan- favorite The Kerry Dance Troupe, and champion dancer Connor Reider (dance coach, choreographer, performer), who has danced with The Chieftains and has toured with innumerable shows including Celtic Fyre and An Irish Christmas. And, finally, the voice of Irish song is provided by The Kerry Voice Squad, "three lovely lassies delivering the best of Irish ballads!" A joyous celebration it will be.
