The City, the current group show focusing on representations of New York, opened to great fanfare last week. It was a rare and welcomed occasion for many of the artists to meet each other, and for the public to see such a diverse collection of work on the same theme.
Sharon Sprung's I USED TO LIVE HERE, (left), is an evocative painting that possess a romantic, if not somewhat mysterious tone. The streets are virtually empty and the horizon lost in the mist. A little bit of blue sky at the top is the only suggestion of liveliness to come. Vincent Giarrano's two new works are on display in the show, including Crosswalk, (above), the first large painting of Giarrano's to show at Gallery Henoch.
