Nina Jamison, Director of Exhibition says: "One of the goals of this new exhibit is to renew a sense of wonder and awareness for animals and nature. Inspired by their subjects and the natural world, the nine artists in Feather & Fur celebrate the beauty, intelligence and grace of animals and birds. The portraits convey a poetry and beauty that are part of the animal's story. Some of the portraits are colorful, sweet and charming, even magical. Artist and art director, Adelaide Tyrol's 6' by10' canvass present a different perspective and suggest the regal yet darker side of nature."
At the Saturday opening to meet the artists, VINS and artist Christine Mix will present live demonstrations. Beginning at 12:30 p.m.Christine Mix will demonstrate how to draw animals. This will be followed by a presentation by Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) with an up close and personal encounter with live hawks and an owl. Cider and cider donuts along with seasonal faire will be served.
Nina Jamison, co-curated the show with Carolyn Enz Hack, an artist from Thetford Center whose work has been exhibited nationally. Her sculptures have also been exhibited in two different shows in the Great Hall - the inaugural show, Emergence, as well as in Fibrations.
