The touching tribute took place in memory of 60-year-old Victor 'Vic' Hamilton, a driver at the National Theatre, who lost his life to a brain tumour in March, National Brain Tumour Awareness month. Joey, currently on stage at the New London Theatre, attended a photocall in a striking pink top hat, designed exclusively for Brain Tumour Research by Lock & Co, the world's oldest hat shop in St James's Street, London. Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 50th anniversary season with Sticky Traps, a powerful new play by KC Rep's Playwright in Residence, Nathan Louis Jackson, Directed by Resident Director, Kyle Hatley. Sticky Traps focuses on a small town not far from Kansas City, where a mother protects her gay son's honor when his funeral is protested by a local church. Her actions have unintended consequences that will test her whole family - and the power of their love -- in the face of hate. In preparation for his performance in a new production of The Importance of Being Earnest, Nigel Havers gave a complete rendition of the script reading from a specially printed first edition. An audience assembled in room 118 of The Cadogan Hotel, where Oscar Wilde was infamously arrested on the grounds of gross indecency in 1895, to hear Havers' touching and emotional performance. Mary McCartney was present to photograph the event and following the reading the audience retired to the dining room at The Cadogan Hotel for cucumber sandwiches. (more...)

National Theatre Live has announced an international broadcast of George Farquhar's wild comedy of love and cash "The Beaux' Stratagem," directed by Simon Godwin (Man and Superman), to cinemas internationally on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Dates will vary at venues internationally and encore screenings will follow. This week, NT Live will broadcast Tom Stoppard's new play "The Hard Problem," directed by Nicholas Hytner, on Thursday, April 16. Also, it has been announced that the Donmar Warehouse's critically acclaimed production of Shakespeare's "Coriolanus," starring Tom Hiddleston in the title role and directed by Josie Rourke, will have an encore screening internationally on Thursday, November 12. The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man, joining celebrated director Jessica Stone, who recently made her Globe debut with Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Shaw's romantic comedy, which continues the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, will run May 9 - June 14, 2015 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.
