Montego Glover and More to Star in The Old Globe's THE ROYALE; Cast & Creatives Set!

The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for Marco Ramirez's ('Orange is the New Black,' 'Sons of Anarchy') wildly theatrical new play The Royale, directed by two-time Obie Award-winning and Drama Desk Award-nominated Rachel Chavkin. Founding Artistic Director of New York's the TEAM, Chavkin most recently won accolades for Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 (The New York Times, Time Out New York, and New York Post Critics's Picks, and Top Ten of 2012 and 2013). The Royale will run October 4 to November 2 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run October 4 - 8. Happy Birthday, Stark Sands! In 2007, Sands received a nomination for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in the Broadway revival of Journey's End. Additional theater credits include the 2009 musical adaptation of Bonnie & Clyde at the La Jolla Playhouse, The Classic Stage Company's production of The Tempestwhich earned him the Actors' Equity Foundation's St. Clair Bayfield Award, which honors the best performance by an actor in a Shakespearean play in the New York metropolitan area. From June 25 to July 12, 2009, Sands appeared in the Shakespeare in the Park's production of Twelfth Night, featuring Anne Hathaway, Audra McDonald and Raul Esparza. Sands played the role of Tunny in the Broadway production of American Idiot. Most recently, Sand received a Tony nomination for playing Charlie Price, in the musical Kinky Boots, which opened on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on April 4, 2013. (more...)

Shenandoah Conservatory to Present AMERICAN IDIOT, Opening 9/26

Fans of the hit Green Day musical American Idiot will be happy to hear that after the national tour closed in May, plans were put into motion to bring the rock show to the college level-apropos to its age demographic and subject matter. Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia, known for its dedication to pop/rock voice training will be the first school to premiere the work on the non-professional level.
