Desert Ensemble Theatre Opens 6th Season with BOYS' NIGHT OUT

Tickets are now on sale for Desert Ensemble Theatre's 3nd Annual DETC Season Opening Gala. The Friday, November 18 event features a pre-show reception at 6pm followed by a 7pm performance of Boys' Night Out, a revue of eclectic songs from musical theatre, cabaret, and popular music. The event takes place at the Pearl McManus Theater in the Palm Springs Woman's Club at 314 S. Cahuilla Road. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased in advance through the company's website, www.detctheatre.org, or by calling (760) 565-2476 to reserve and pay at the door. (more...)

An epidemic of senseless gun violence and police brutality is sweeping through the United States. Trayvon Martin and Freddie Grey are two of the more famous examples of this. Award winning actress, choreographer, and writer Debbie Allen takes a no holds barred look at this all too hot topic in her theatrical/dance/ multimedia extravaganza Freeze Frame...Stop the Madness. I always knew that Debbie Allen was a force of nature as an actress in any show she's in and this show is no exception. She plays a few roles, but is also the director, choreographer, and writer. This is one of the first times I have actually seen that working scenario prove successful as one person usually can't do it all. (more...)
