We speak to comedIan Stuart Goldsmith about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show Compared To What.

What can you tell us about Compared To What?

It's my best ever show, again! I've moved house against my will and had an excellent baby, but there's also plenty of stupid jokes about feathers, legal highs, spooning and the band Bastille. So it's not all about the sprog. (As I keep telling myself, in a wider context.)

What kind of questions do you consider during the show?

I ask myself that question every day! I suppose I'm looking at how self-involved we all are; why I appear to be the most egomaniacal person I know; and why I've been finding it so hard to move onto the next phase of my life, despite having gotten everything I wanted...

Who would you recommend comes to see Compared To What?

Anyone who has a baby, doesn't have a baby, loves babies, hates babies, is ambivalent about babies or used to be a baby. Also I think Norwegians would like it. I'd like to meet more Norwegians. Lovely people.

What have you been up to since your last appearance at the festival?

Given the above answers, a surprising amount! My "Comedian's Comedian" podcast has just become the first UK podcast to be invited to LApodfest in California; I broke my thumb and now I'm too scared to go back to jujitsu; I went on holiday to Loch Fyne and smashed a German classic motorhome into a tree. Been a really invigorating year. Obviously the little chap turning up has been paramount, but he's pretty portable at the moment. He didn't really go for Glastonbury, but to be honest I'm not mad keen on milk...

What's next for you after Edinburgh?

This show will become my new touring stand-up show (after the success of my debut tour I'm mad keen to get back to Milton Keynes and show those f**kers who's boss, not to mention hitting all the places I missed out last time), plus I've got big podcast plans coming out of my ears. It's going to be a huge year, loads of special guests, plus I'm really getting into having sick on my shoulders, so there'll be plenty more of that...
